Hey guys-
Went to the preview of the BSG auction and I'm quite amazed by the scope of it.
I focused mainly on the pistols to see how they compare to Matsuo's replica.
They had various versions of the clamshell MK 1 and MK 2 including dense rubber and soft foam. Some of them were in fair shape.
The first general impression is how small they are compared to Matsuo's.
There is also some detail missing from the replica on the grip, which accounting how much screen reference was available is understandable.
The prop master (who was there) described them as building 15-35 non-firing versions of the pistols, whether they be resin, rubber or foam. I'm not sure if that number included the MK III's. He also explained that the size of the gun was a concern since both women and men needed to use them and they didn't want a huge handgun overpower the performers.
When it's all said and done, I LOVE Matsuo's replica. It has a few inaccuracies but it is very high quality craftsmanship and just feels more 'dangerous' than the real version.
Did anyone else see the pistols?
