Hi, I am new on the RPF. I have been meaning to join for years, but I didn’t have any interesting projects to share. Now I have too many to finish.
But currently I have been working on my biggest project, a solid metal cast pewter T-800 bust.
I am replicating the screen used bust used for Terminator 2, opening scene of the skull engulfed in fire.

Hero solid bronze screen-used T-800 Endo skull from Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Using Mold Max 60 High heat silicone, I created molds from recast pieces of endo skeleton. I then cast pewter into the molds to create the individual parts.
As well as finding screen accurate parts to go with the parts I cast.

It is a work in progress and has taken around 10 months of spare time so far, I am nearing the end. I have a lot of Work left to do, I need to cast the neck, recarve some details and a lot of polishing to do to get it to a chrome finish. But for my first major project, first time mold making and first time pouring metal I’m doing Ok .

I've always wanted to build a replica of that bronze endo skull set up! The shoulders combined with the neck and skull look so good together.

Can't wait to see this come together!

You are making a great job on that skull....really impressive !!!

If I may ask, where did you find those pieces in the attached picture here ? They look to be in real metal......I need those pieces to finish my skull which have resin painted pieces instead.....

Thank you very much.

Fred

The pivot parts are at the link below.

you will also need a Du-Bro Rod end link (For model aeroplanes) for the part that attaches to the piston
The piston I scratch built and cast in metal as the one in the kit was poor quality and not good enough to cast.

I have put the link above to the pivot parts.
The du bro rod links can be found on eBay.

Yeah I must admit such a cool prop, it is my favourite T2 piece, I can’t wait to finish. Has taken me a long time. Worth it though, not many metal T-800’s around.

Thank you very much for those links and help. Sadly, casting parts in metal is not for me currently :)

Cheers

no problem.

I made the original piston with pieces of metal tube and plastic, with some detailing and shaping. Then I made a mold. All I can recommend is to scratch build one piston and mold it so you can make two identical ones, or maybe get some 3D printed, there are some good files around now.
I may be able to cast you a couple up if I get a chance.

Thanks for the part list there! I bought and built a resin skull recently and those parts snapped AND my son knocked it over breaking them again! I had no idea what the parts were but thanks to you I ordered them up! If you’d be interested in selling a couple casts of the part you made let me know! Otherwise I’ll make a couple out of plastic tubing. Thanks again and again amazing project.

You are welcome. I am pretty busy but I will try cast some up. My pistons are not screen accurate though, the resin ones in my kit were poor quality so had to make my own before molding. Another member wants some cast up also, he does have a more accurate resin one I could maybe mold and cast if enough interest. Would be worth the extra effort if making them for a couple people.

No worries, I have been looking through rc plane parts as it seems to me they look an awful lot like landing gear struts. I’ll be watching this thread regardless

I got bored in between sanding sessions on the chest piece so cast some pistons up as a couple of you have asked. Might as well do them now or I won’t fit them in.

Awesome. Shoot me a pm and let me know the damage. Bored he says. Wish I was casting metal while I was bored. Lol
Don’t worry about it, it was only a few pence of pewter. I had the mold laying around. I will give you a shout when I’m going post office. Won’t be as quick as I cast it though
