So, no RPF love for the new pilot, Poe Dameron?

2nd pilot photo.. his boots look different

meanwhile based on the reflection I see on the zoom in shot

I assume by other pilot you mean Greg Grunberg's character: http://www.starwars7news.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Greg-Grunberg.jpg?

I believe like the TFA pilot gloves that the mucker style rubber boots were sourced from shops in the UK. I am never going to find a pair of boots from South Korea that fit me (US size 11).

As you can see in this zoomed pic Poe's boots have a rubber heel area that goes up on the back of the ankle.

The coverall/suit looks like they're insulated.

I believe that the coveralls a costume department modified (to give the appearance of G-suit pants) double layered Cordura racing suit. Not insulated.

The part you see going up the back of the ankle is actually part of the upper, I think. I have a pair of these boot that are quite close, but not exact. The rubber lower goes around the heel relatively smoothly, The leather (or leather-like) upper is in two parts, which are then connected to the shaft. I have a pair which is very similar, but not quite identical. Mine has the upper that does up in the back, but which is more rounded, as opposed to these, which appear to be more squared off in the back. The front part of the upper overlaps the rear part and is a curving seam. A double row of stitching joins the uppers to the rubber shoe, and another double row of stitching joins the upper to the shaft. I have a version of this photo that I enchanced to see all the seams on my home computer.

We may never find the EXACT boot. I suspect the costume department just went to the local shoe surplus place and bought all of some generic boot that uses this ubiquitous rubber shoe. Given that the boot is mostly covered by the flight suit, I think an exact match of the uppers and the shaft is not nearly as important as getting a match on the rubber show bit.

will have to agree to disagree on that one then from having this toy in my hands it just doesn't look that way at all to me albeit a fruitless debate as the screen prop may well align with your theory (which i think is wholly plasuable

With all the discussion back an forth about the detail, I neglected to say that you did a great job on the design. Great Job!

Sni9er take a look at a real Sig P226 grips which is the host gun Poe's pistol was built around.

thanks for the tip! just trying to find the right model to use ^^ :) if only we had more ref shots of the actual prop!

Has anybody ordered up a hose for their chest box yet? Which size did you go for? I 'm going to order mine next week. I was a little concerned by the sizing as they list them by internal diameter only? Not knowing the thickness of the rubber makes choosing the correct size a little more problematic.

Saw this new figure in the '6" Black series" I know it's not Poe but it does give a better look on the holster just depends on how accurate it is.

That holster is not a found item, I bet. It leaves the trigger exposed, which isn't common on modern holsters (I can't recall seeing one).

Finally got some gloves! You can see the triangular gusset on the underside of the cuff.

I bought a seat belt from a Ford breakers yard today. I believe the stitching for a modern Ford KA matches that used for the leg flares.

I also received my PLCE webbing, roll pin belt. The modern roll pin buckle has a brass affect - which can be easily removed by leaving it in a salt and vinegar solution for 15 minutes then rubbing it down.

The belt is actually back to front. The inside of the belt has the distinctive pattern that can be seen on Poe's belt. The pattern extends the whole way round.

... though I haven't been able to find it in grey, any suggestions on dying it?

For my belt I dyed it first with silver grey iDye, but the results ended up being that the belt was too dark and the other strappy pieces were barely changed. I used Dupli Color Upholstery and Vinyl spray paint from the nearest auto supply store and it ended up doing the trick nicely. For the little tab parts I used watered down Jacquard brand textile paints I mixed to make dark grey.
