I have a unit for cars and machining and the like and I finally got around to building an upstairs. So I have a storage mezzanine and good size room for displaying and clean work (electronics and paper props). But I need a chair. The forerunner is Kirks original captains chair.... but this morning an idea popped into my head of making the emperors throne chair. Which has opened a Huge can of worms. There are sooooo many chairs.... which is the best. Not interested in comfort as I can build that in.....all I need to know is....

WHICH IS THE COOLEST?

All your ideas and thoughts are most welcome.

Thanks in advance.

a few famous seating arrangements that spring to mind

Some great pics there guys. But all you have done is made it harder to decide. I may need to build 2 now..... or 3.... or.....

All good choices guys. I don't have anything as elaborate tho - b/c I can't really afford "cool'. :) I built my little man cave in the attic as I had 12' ceilings up there. It's sort of "L" shaped with a little alcove where my work table is. But as far as chairs, I have an drafting chair - which sits higher b/c I goofed up the height of the homemade desk :p -

Then off to the side I have a little lounge seat to read books, watch DVDS nap etc... - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/images/products/muren-recliner-gray__0372120_PE551471_S4.JPG

Good luck with your new spot.

Picard's command chair.

It's small enough to actually work well in a living space. It's already padded for comfort. And it's got those touchpanels at the ends of the arm-rests you could do a lot of stuff with.

And if I remember right, it was wall-mounted chair. So you can basically mount it however you want, set it on a surface, or even install legs.

Yep, that chair was more or less wall mounted, but the mountbar rests on the floor too:

If it was me, I'd go with Captain Pike's chair. I'm not much of a conversationalist. Plus I could three-beep people just to screw them up.
