SMOOTH-ON Body double experiences?

Ive been using alginate for years and years and have not tried anything new for lifecasting. Ive seen videos of the new sillicone that safe for the skin and can be used to cast resins. I was wondering if anyone can tell me their experience with this product?

I had my family use this to make a head cast of me and it worked great. It's pretty thick and because of that it's a little difficult to mix, but the vibrant colors make it very easy to tell when the two parts are mixed thoroughly. The stuff sets up pretty quickly so we ended up having 3 people mixing and applying the silicone simultaneously. The silicone has a good bit of stretch to it when it's cured and it's very tear resistant. I never figured out why, but something about the bald cap I used reacted with the silicone and kept it from curing completely, so that is something to watch out for. I've poured up plaster and resin in it and both worked fine.

thanks. and about the bald cap issue. I heard latex rubber inhibbits the cure of sillicone. thats why they say use nitrile gloves and bald caps made of material other than latex,

I have had many years of great success with body double, it is easier to do full head casts by yourself that are thinner and lighter than alginate. There is a great tutorial in the smooth on web site by Guy Louis RIP

If using body double. Be sure to get the additive ( think its hyper folic acid) otherwise it will be difficult to remove from hair.

A far superior product in my experience is lifeform silicone from Mouldlife.

It applies better and will release from hair even if scrubbed in.

Also, both silicone a platinum based so that is why it didn't cure against a latex bald cap. Use a vinyl cap or if you have to you a latex cap, completly seal it with a coat of prosaid first.

I agree with fettster, I have done a couple of head casts with Mouldlife Life Form and it is easy to use and does not stick to even the hairiest. This does not include long hair on the head, still need a bald cap. Plastic cap is best but a rubber cap sealed with Pros-Aide and some vaseline release works.
