Smallville season finale' - SPOILERS

What do you think?

Clark getting (but not wearing) the superman suit was cool...

I think the 'old lady knitting' was Lex (unless i missed an obvious clue), i figured Clark's vision of the future with Lex running for president was the clue...

The final showdown with Zod was kinda cheesy.

The blue kryptonite dagger was interesting though. Clark allowing himself to be stabbed to get Zod sucked to the 'other dimension' was interesting.

Anyone know if DC is letting up on the 'rules'? Seems as if next season is being setup for a version of the 'death of superman' storyline.

Personally, I liked the finale, but I wasn't expecting much to start with so I was pleasantly surprised.

Regarding the "old lady," I believe she was supposed to be...

Granny Goodness, a servant of Darkseid. They've been rumored to introduce DS next season, who knows how it will turn out though.

I am anxious to see next season's premiere, so I guess the cliffhanger did its job on me. :lol

I thought it was awesome. Being a Superman fan since I was little I latched onto this show from the start but as years have passed I come and gone from it. Some of the stories seemed wacky and dumb and I really found myself HATING the "No Flights, No Tights" rule they presented when the show first started. With that said... After tonight I can publically say I've never been more excited to see Smallville return in the fall then I am now. So many questions left open. So many good things I saw in this single episode that got me pumped for the next season. Heck the first 9 mins of this episode made up for all the stupied episodes of the past. I will say I will miss hearing Caleb Blue say the line "kneel before Zod". Do you think they where sent to The Bottle City of Kandor like their namesake suggests or do you think they where send to the Phantom Zone like the history of Zod suggests?

Sorry kinda got off on a rambling tangent there. Let's just end with... Looking forward to next season and I hope he flies and we see that suit Martha gave him "If he decided to stay".

By the way anyone else notice Clark fell from the building in a very Christlike position? Yes I know there is alot alike between the two and alot of Superman is based on the story of *****... Not trying to have a religion discussion just happen to notice how he looked when he fell... Okay now I'm done rambling.

The "Kneel before Zod" line wasn't as awesome as I expected. I thought it was kind of funny that Zod would try to whisper to Clark in front of a bunch of Kyptonians who have the same powers as he does. Also, at some point, wouldn't Clark look up and say, "Hmm, these people are all able to fly. Maybe I should try it too."

First off, it's Callum Blue :)

I chalked up the whisper thing to having to live as a 'normal human' for so long before getting the powers that he simply forgot. Stuff happens in the heat of the moment you know.

On the falling, yeah, i immediately noticed his positioning, too. I'd like to see it pick up with the yellow beam closing off and clark pulling out the knife and tossing it away and then realizing he can fly. That's why i asked if anyone knew if DC was going to ease up on them since there's no superman to conflict with for the forseable future.

I thought it was a great episode, but a TAD too heavy on the "just wait until september!!!" angle. They very quickly resolved a lot of long running plot points, and VERY quickly set up about five new ones for next season.

Still, great to see that clark is now in posession of the tights, even if he never uses them. I really thought Chloe was going to bite the big one this episode, as she's been babbling about leaving the show for six months now. Maybe that was just contractual posturing. Who knows.

I for one will be of EPIC disappointment if they don't show clark flying and in the suit AT LEAST ONCE in season ten. I'm sure every fan of the show is with me on this one, and unless the show is TOTALLY under the gun from WB to do that, I'm sure they will make it happen. Let's hope it's one of those things they will be tight lipped about until the very end, BUT then it will happen.

Fingers crossed.

What I hope for is after Season 10 ends with him becoming Superman, how about a 2 hour tv movie shortly afterwards, kinda like THE PLAN to Galactica, with Tom as Superman and everything the way it finally should be. I think after 10 years, the loyal fans deserve a tv movie about SUPERMAN.

Smallville has pretty much always been heavy on the 'wait til september' bit on their season enders. Sucks, too. Frankly, it's lack of faith in your own show. The belief that people won't come back without a cliffhanger is just sad.

I think the old lady was Granny Goodness and the things attacking Ollie (GA) were Darkseid's Parademons. He said it was not the Kandorians. I think in S10 the final battle will come down to Darkseid VS. Clark finally baring the Superman suit. Darkseid has always said Superman was his ulitmate competition.
