Well this has always been a prop that I've wanted to own since seeing "Slither". And it looks so basic it MUST be easy to make.... Well, luckily for me, it was! :lol
This required absolutely no sculpting ability (lucky for me!) - just take some newspaper, scrumple it up and twist and shape it into the rough form that you want. Then wrap it it masking tape to keep the shape.
After that (which is basically the pretty much it....), I wrapped the whole thing in mud-rock (gauze bandages pre-soaked in plaster that you just dip in water and slap on). If that's not available, paper mache' or toilet paper and PVA glue would work just as well.
Once that's dry, lightly sand it all down and cover in 1 or 2 thick layers of PVA glue.
Once dry, I then srayed the whole thing crimson, then applied 3 shades of red and 1 of black using a sponge.
And finally, hit the whole thing with a layer of high gloss varnish for that wet and slimy look.
And that's it! A really fast, easy prop that looks pretty cool. It's not the most accurate thing in the world, and I'd love to see one done PROPERLY (silicon or whatever with the hero raw-meat-like paint job), but it looks pretty neat slithering across your wall or whatever.
NOTE: In case you've never heard of it, Blue Peter is a childrens TV programme here in the UK where they like to show you how to make things using yoghurt pots, toilet roll tubes, newspaper, straws, "sticky back plastic" and PVA glue.....
