Slimer Wall Hanger - Updated 7/04

I've been cleaning this guy up for a little while now, repairing a lot of areas that should have been done prior to the molding, but I'm getting to the point he's worth showing off a little.

I've been documenting the work here http://home.comcast.net/~kerr345/misc/SlimerWallHanger/SlimerWallHanger.htm

My I'll be hanging this guy on the wall, offset from the surface by some green plexiglass rods and lit from the interior with green hyperbright LEDs to give a glow to the back of him so it's like he's coming out of the wall itself. The biggest problem I'm running into now is that I don't like the sculpted in eyes and want to replace them with some glass eyes. Problem is, I can't seem to find any yellow eyes with red iris anywhere! Anyone know where I could pick some up for this guy?

Re: Slimer Wall Hanger and a Request

That's my sculpt from years ago. The reason of having the face and forehead separated is because I, originally, just wanted to do the face. Months later, I figured it'd look more complete with the forehead, so it was sculpted and molded separately. Assembling both parts wasn't a big deal. You must have gotten casting from the old molds, which I sold on Ebay some months ago.

Those Eye parts ARE NOT eyes. Those are to be dremeled out and replaced with Pin Pon balls. I never bothered with the Iris, so I just painted the pin pon balls neon Yellow and glue them in from behind. No Irises makes Slimer look more Ghostly-like.

The gums are supposed to be cast with translucent resin to give them a gelly effect, and glued after the rest of the Slimer is painted. Same goes for the teeth.

I'd show you pics of the finished result, but AOL deleted ALL of my prop pics from the last 8 year. I might find the old photos and scan them.

Yeah, I got the casting as a gift from some pretty old molds. The mold was essentially falling apart so I had to almost completely sculpt in the areas on the side where the top and bottom fit together. Ping pong balls aren't a bad idea, I can probably do that if I can't find any glass eyes. The movie eyes are yellow with a red iris so I'm going to stick with that in the buildup. I considered adding in the gums later, but the castings I got were regular resin so it's not worth trying to manage putting the gums in later. I'll just do them now and put in the teeth as the final step.

I'd like to see this when you finish it. I love Slimer.

This is just me, but it might look neat if there was some vinyl or other material behind the head, so it looks like he slimed the wall.

I considered that as well, but I figure that spray painting the inside with a shiny silver paint and the LEDs on the inside will effectively cause the light to bleed out from the edges when it's held away from the wall by about a quarter inch. I think that'll be more 'realistic' as Slimer is passing through the wall. I don't know for certain though, but will be updating this as he gets done further!

More progress! I think I'm about done with the rattle can painting for now, will need to start working with an airbrush to pink up the gums and add more highlights with greens and yellows on the skin. The skin in the original puppet was very blotchy with yellows and greens so I tried to mimic it as well as I could. The eyes are just taped in for now, will be painted and put in place later.

Here's my Slimer I got years ago. Still one of my favourite pieces after all these years and the favourite of most of my guests. Great work Guntah

Cool, I was trying to figure out the teeth yesterday too. There are a few possible combinations I could find but wasn't sure what worked best. I may end up resculpting/sanding down some of them to closer match the movie teeth with the source materials I have access to, but that helps!
