Re: STAR LORD accurate helmet GOTG Vol 2. with screen lineage Run 3 open for depos
thanks! I actually wasn't happy with this paint and stripped and repainted the entire helmet.
here's a quick explanation of paint and method
dupli-color gunmetal and krylon gold both decanted and sprayed through an airbrush.

color test on a spare iron man faceplate

flat black paint as a base coat

gloss black and then spazstix mirror chrome are airbrushed on areas that need to be chrome including areas that will be battle damage.

liquid latex over areas that will be battle damage

used medium gloss varnish sprayed through an airbrush to seal the chrome and protect it from masking tape.
then masked the chrome parts, airbrush gold parts, then masked gold parts and airbrushed gunmetal.
below is the final result of the second paint job

the braided hose need grime and weathering in order to be a dark grey so they're still incorrect.
the first paint job used alclad pale gold which didn't look as good as the krylon gold in my opinion. the gunmetal being sprayed through an airbrush also gave me much better
results than spraying through a rattle can. I also gave the whole helmet a black acrylic paint wash-n-wipe
I am much happier with the new helmet paint job and it doesn't necessarily photograph as well as it looks in person.
this crappy photo shows the paint job in much more natural light and is closer to the screen used helmet colors seen in the propstore auction

Sorry rocket for doing my paint write up here
What paints did you use on the helmet?? It is pristine. Very nice work.
