Skyrim Daedric Armor (WIP)

I'm excited to see where this goes :) Love anything and everything to do with Skyrim.

Impressive stuff! :thumbsup

Don't worry about tearing up v1.0 and starting over with v2.0 as it helps you collect your thoughts and really start developing the style you're going for. Going to be honest, I most certainly like the v2.0 look better, you can really see all the hard work you put in.

Keep it up, can't wait to see it all painted up.

I like it better too. I want to do this right considering how much time is going into it. I've been trying to get a gauge on if I should redo the pauldrons. I like them because they're unique to my costume but still identifiable as daedric, but I've spent a lot of time making everything else authentic to the game. I'm just not sure which direction to go.

I've played The Elder Scrolls years ago, my most favorite has to have been Morrowind due to it's raw 'sandbox' nature and amazing storyline.

But with that said, I understand when you may feel conflicted on either trying to make the costume 100% accurate to the original, or to try and go a different direction to portray something else with a unique flair or realistic look.

The best thing you can do is to go with what you feel is comfortable to you. Sometimes going for 100% accuracy results in a very costly costume. Whereas making slight changes or additions to the original can give it that extra 'pop' that makes it stand out. Even if you cannot replicate the original look, there's other things you can always expand upon. Such as little details regarding quality like textures, painting, weathering, decals and the little knick-knacks that draw out the character.

I've been building my own costume for the Half Life 2 character; the Metrocop / Civil Protection Officer. I am trying to go for accuracy, but I also wish to portray the character in a realistic sense. This results in moving the character slightly away from it's original appearance into a more modern real world look of a police officer. And I am most certainly confident in my approach. Just a matter of time.

Simply put, I feel that any work done is subject to the artists rendition and what is envisioned. Although I haven't been here long, I have combed through quite a few posts. It's clear that everyone here takes a great deal of professionalism into their work and they do the best they can at a reasonable price to really bring out the "wow" factor.

I've never seen anyone at a convention, who was truly passionate, artistic, creative and attentive to detail fall short of making a great looking costume. Keep at it.

It's funny you mention Morrowind. The project I did before this one was a glass war axe. If you type “Morrowind glass war axe" into the RPF search engine. You'll find it.

I think you're right. It's not necessarily a bad thing that there's a part of my armor that's unique. It makes it one of a kind :)

Ur using worbla for this? I just ordered after i saw ur post in my topic, ty. for the reply, btw. the greaves look great :thumbsup

I used a different kind of thermoplastic - Kobracast. Don't get that stuff though. It's kind of tough to work with. Worbla is a good bet. No problem, and thank you!

Boots (of Blinding Speed :D) ... I still need to heat-form the spikes on the sides so they don't stick up so much. Also, I FREAKING HATE THIS NEW EVA FOAM! They didn't have any of the rainbow colored stuff at Michael's, so I had to go with the primary colors pack. Since they're the same brand, you wouldn't think there'd be that much of a difference, but this stuff tears easier and it has more bubbles that I have to work around. Also, the dark colors make it hard to see pen marks. *grumble grumble*

Very cute armor :lol :thumbsup You should do a test fit and take a few pictures ;)

For the dark colored EVA foam you can use silver sharpies.

Once I have all the pieces assembled, I'll take a pic of me wearing it :) ... I had thought about silver Sharpies, but I'm already about $100 over my limit as far as how much I wanted to spend on this thing. I think for now I'll just avoid the black foam.

Just realized that I forgot a piece on the back. Hzzzzzz.... I'll do it tomorrow. Also, I started working on the texture details. It's not super accurate, but I like it :) ... I think it will look really nifty once I cover it in Epsilon and paint it.

Fixed the back and added the rivet details. Also added the rivets to the front and a couple spikes.

As much as I'd like to keep the pauldrons, they don't look right. They're too small and they're too symmetrical. Also, the lines are too distinct. Once payday rolls around, I'll buy some floral foam and carve the pauldrons out of that.

So, I redid the pauldrons. They need a little bit of tweaking, but I like these a lot better. They're a lot more accurate. I've been having an obscene amount of trouble procuring a decent pair of gloves. The first pair I ordered were WAY too small (and I have tiny hands). The second pair supposedly came today (at least, that's what the tracking number claims), but wherever they ended up, it wasn't my mailbox. Hopefully I get them soon.

You really work fast. If I had to redo all the stuff I'm no particularly happy with in my build it would take me years. I procrastinate too much. :facepalm

So, my husband and I are buying a house, so I've taken a short break from armor making (house hunting is way more exhausting than I thought it'd be). I did, however, get a chance to finish one greave. The pic is pretty bad quality, but it did turn out pretty well, although I think I still have a lot to learn in the weathering department. Also, I FREAKING HATE EPSILON. No matter how thin a layer I apply, it will always drip and then there's not much I can do about it. Guh.
