Skeleton Crew : first live action Shistavenan ?

Been trying to ID this fastener on Brutus’ hip holster…but even before then, seen it elsewhere, might’ve been Yul Brynner’s gunslinger costume in The Magnificent Seven and Westworld.

Anyway, learned it’s called a LOXX® fastener, and oof they’re like $10 a pop. Considering all the “leather” I’m using is just vinyl from an old thrift store suitcase, gonna settle for a regular snap for now. Will reconsider it later if I rebuild all this using proper materials. But maybe the info is useful to others.

Getting closer! I’ll be adding some foam under the shoulder pads to hike them up. Still some little tassels and greebly bits to add, a collar, more weathering. Maybe by next weekend, or the full moon, or the show’s conclusion. The anticipation is deadly!

Brutus is so meme-worthy.

Loving this
Thank you! I’ve been on this emotional rollercoaster between “oh no this part is all wrong” and “hey not bad given the sources & materials,” so the validation is much appreciated.

Just wish they’d release an “Art of” book already for some good references.

It's really coming along great! Looking forward to the progress. :)
Thankfully Brutus wasn't burned by that acid pool, or you'd have to peel off half that face you worked so hard on.

GUYS! I was SO annoyed when Advanced Graphics released a bunch of Skelly Crew character cutouts except Brutus. WELL GUESS WHAT JUST DROPPED? I have never hit “buy” on anything so quickly in my life. Aside from just being fun to have around, this is the clearest view I’ve seen anywhere of the costume and blasters, and almost 1:1 scale!

Looking great
Hopefully Legacy will post a behind the scenes video soon
I've just started the head sculpt, mask refs are actually not bad so far considering.

I believe I have found the correct buckle for Captain Brutus! It is a quick release buckle used on a military style belt you can find on ebay and
AliExpress.com. There are a couple of variations with the center button so watch out for that. I have ordered four of the belts and will provide photos once they arrive.

SUPER grateful! Just ordered a couple myself. I’m certain that’s the right item…but if somehow it isn’t, that’s still a cool belt buckle, and I can secretly be cosplaying as a space pirate every day.

I really lost steam on this after the show did him dirty…but with Monsterpalooza coming up next weekend, made a push to get this guy finished. Pics are from yesterday’s test fit…I’ve since added a little more weathering in areas, and various clips and Velcro to keep bits from riding up.

Although I can nitpick every single piece of this as off-model or cheaply done…when I saw the whole getup reflected in a window, the combined effect was pretty satisfying…he’s at least recognizable. I have a solid starting point now and can incrementally upgrade parts in the future.

Been sharing progress on other socials and it’s been nice to hear from other folks that, like myself, had kind of moved on from Star Wars to other fandoms, that it was the character design for Brutus specifically that got them to come back to this universe for another look. Don’t know that he’ll get identified much at cons, but those that do will be giddy.

Magnificent! I think the whole get-up needs a wash of dirt or grease, but I'm sure that will happen in time. :)
