As I've not really shared any projects on the RPF since joining, I thought I'd post up this piece that I did a while ago (plus it'll help explain my avatar a little more.....).
Well I was bored (this was a time before I had 2 or 3 projects on the go at once :lol ), and I wanted something relatively easy to do, just something to sit and paint in my spare time, so I thought to myself "what character from the Star Wars universe would offer the most painting/pattern opportunity?" The answer of course, is Darth Maul!
This was simply a vinyl newborn doll that I found in a charity shop for £1. And man was this thing scary looking! I've never seen an angrier looking baby before or since. :lol I just had to have it!
I started by spraying the doll with white primer, then I sketched out the designs with a pencil, using reference pictures of Maul's upper torso, back and arms from the comics where he's seen training, and some great full face photos from magazines which came out around the release of Episode 1.
The legs and feet have never (officially) been seen, so I just invented a design for them which hopefully followed the rest of the theme. Once it was all drawn out, I roughly sculpted some horns from Das Pronto clay and painted the whole thing with Games Workshop paints (Chaos Black and Scab Red).
I'm considering making some black cloth trousers (or nappy), but will leave it like this for now - that part of the project will probably be on the back burner for a loooong time.
So here he is, the ultimate Sith warrior..... as an ikkle baby.....
