Sith Acolyte Costume WIP - My first time full costume build

What about just flaring them at the bottom? That will give the illusion of the "waisted" look you're going for, but won't make it any harder to slip your foot into. Are you able to do something like that without completely remaking the piece? Because I think it looks really good and I'd hate for you to have to go through the whole process again if you don't have to!

Thanks for your advice, Yrien! I was somehow caught up in the idea to make them thinner.

"Just flaring them at the bottom", that´s it! Just to see the effect, I stuffed some foam into the bottom while wearing the shins. As they are flexible enough, I think I´ll take this path...

Woohoo! Glad I could help. :) I was mostly hoping to have to save you the effort of making them all over again! ;)

After some searching around I decided to use my old pair of aqua-shoes. They have no zipper and they are really comfortable...

These pics from The SWTOR Trailer helped me to define the shape of the plates that cover the shoes:

The segments are made from a PVC sheet (3mm) and glued on the shoes; at last I sprayed on the primer.

So far, so good...

Looking good! Unlike others I've seen, that appear to have hard armor covering/encasing the shoe, this is a approach I like MUCH BETTER, as it allows more freedom of motion while walking! The fact that they are comfortable to wear just makes it even BETTER! NICELY DONE!(y)cool

Very awesome work mate, a few questions for you if you can answer? That foam...what is it? pvc foam in a 3mm thickness? Also hobby glass, is that something similar to Plexiglass?

Amazing build so far! Makes me want to tackle this costume myself. The PVC plastic you're using would it be similar to Sintra that we have In the United States?

This is an amazing build!! I've always wanted one of these suits, the only thing I see wrong is the helmet, as far as I know its not "suppose" to be a full helm, in the game if you aren't wearing a hooded robe its only the face covered and its just black around the rest of the head, though I prefer the helmet, and also the forehead looks huge it makes the eyes look so far down, but brilliant, if you ever feel you want to please put your talent and skill into a PDF file and send it too me xD top job your kids look great as well!

Hey my name is Matt, I love the detail you put into this, from the gauntlets all the way down to the feet... Amazing work.

I have a sith acolyte costume myself but don't have the space or tools (mainly time) at creating something like you've done here.

Would you be willing to make something similar to sell?
I don't need to whole set but would like specific parts to the armor.

Chest, legs. arms/hands and feet.

Not sure on how I could contact you but I would be very interested!

Did you just free hand the wrap around of the thigh plates i.e. the rear part of the thighs? I too am using Firefeks pep files, although I started making all of my pieces with resin/bondo rather than foam, and the pep files only cover the front of the thigh? I was just planning on using nylon straps and cam buckles to attach them to my leg but I really love the look of the thigh plate wrapping all the way around the leg. Did you use some sort of template or did you just kind of eyeball it?

Beautiful job on an awesome costume! And I love your idea with the shoes, I may have to steal that one in the future :D

My respect, looks pretty good! So, I've got a question, what kind of paint have you used? I'm working now on my own acolyte's set, but i really have no idea what i can paint it with
