Speaking only for myself, and I am unanimous in this... I won't be happy unless it has the dark band as conceived. :thumbsdown

The only variation that I would consider an acceptable substitute is if the band and symbol are metallic gold in color... via gold plating or something. ;)

Wow this is another great job! Can't wait to see more! Have to admit i am part of the consesus that prefers the dark band but, looks awesome either way.

I think it would be fairly easy to offer both a chrome and a dark band finish for those who would like the option.

Dark finish FTW!

Just got back from the movie, the ring appeared to differ slightly from the book in that the band itsself is like the green lanterns with the textures.

And the band is definitely a darker color and not steel.

If you make the ring in steel you could do a black oxide surface treatment. If it's done in sterling silver it's easy to make it black as well.

I definitely agree that the band is much darker than a steel color. I didn't get a great look at the texture on the band itself, and the video you posted has been removed already unfortunately. So for right now, my rings will be as close to the ring in the book as possible.

Here's an update though. Prototypes have been ordered so its just a waiting game until they get here to get one finished.

Saw it last night and watched the video again, it does have a textured surface very similar to the green corps rings.

Yours will still look great based on the book photos though. :thumbsup

And yeah i agree Chris, it really is an awesome design. While the movie may not be getting good reviews, i have been thoroughly impressed with the art direction in this film. As an aspiring industrial designer, prop fan, and someone who can simply appreciate a good design in general, this film is full of great stuff. I know everyone on board this movie put so much effort into it, so its sad to see the poor reviews. I just took the movie for what it was and simply enjoyed a superhero movie. I had fun at the theater and I've seen MUCH worse before.

From what I saw in the movie for the small fractions it was on there the texturing was like stone, rough patches and bumps. That being said, this looks spectacular and I can't wait to see a finished piece.

I got the base of mine in plastic already! Still gonna do some tweaks, but it's cool!

one is BSF and one is black detail. i'm not using this method though... I changed my mind.
