Sierra Sneakers for Biker Scout advice needed

Hi all, i have the opportunity to buy an original pair of Sierra Sneakers for my Biker Scout costume the only problem is they are a different colour to the ones used in the film. The canvas is much lighter and the sole is more of a light chocolate brown instead of the usual sand/tan.
Does anyone have any recommendations for how to paint or alter the colour of the rubber sole so its more realistic?
Help me RPF, you're my only hope...

Most guys I've seen doing biker scouts use a variety of boots with tan soles with the vinyl cover over the upper.
