This looks really good to me. What do Indy fanatics think?

It was criticized a bit on Club Obi Wan. If I had the cash, I'd grab one, but I'm definitely in the "close enough" camp.

I believe the eyes being unpainted, lack of nipples, and the lack of detail on the child figure were the main gripes.

I guess I feel about this thing the same way Gino felt about the Sideshow Vader reveal - I'm flabbergasted that anyone would buy it.

Not just the frown, or the lack of nipples, or the horribly soft details, or the lack of toes, or....

It's that you could buy something much cheaper from someone here and have a much better representation. And I realize licensing, blah, blah, blah, blah; that's exactly the reason it should be so much better. It's like they're not even trying. It doesn't cost them any extra in manufacturing costs to have a significantly better base object. That it's so off is just laziness or disregard for the collector.

But Gino said the same things about the Vader dome, and I still wanted one! :lol

The base is the best thing about this piece. The idol is horrible.

I am buying one just for the base and then I will throw the idol onto Ebay.

I really want the base too, but not sure I want to pay close $200 with shipping for the privledge :)

Shouldn't this thread be in the main prop forum?

I really don't think it's all that bad. While I'm usually really picky I don't think you will find anything nicer with a base for that price. As long as they don't have problems with the finish I think it's a deal. I'd be willing to bet that nobody can find something nicer for the price if you want an accurate one. There aren't many accurate ones out there to begin with.

On thing about this piece is that it's not case from an original, it's sculpted. I think it may be a bit too tall. The mouth is the main point of contention. Why they would sculpt the frown on the mouth when no frown is seen on the one in the film is, as was already pointed out, taken as a lack of even trying. All they did was copy the one from the LFArchives book, which is incorrect.

There has also been talk of LFLicensing directing the final version of many of the products. That wouldn't surprise me.

For the price- you buy it, put in a room and 99.9% of anyone who will ever see it will know it's from ROTLA and think it's fantastic.

"Wow, it's just like from the movie !"

If I had $200 lying around I'd pick it up straight away.

It's okay but for that price it should be MUCH more accurate. I DO like the base.
I paid less than half that for a more accurate version and get the same results when people see it. I gave it to a friend and it stays in a glass case I gave him.

Wonder if anyone has thought of doing the RC version of the idol with the moving eyes. I sense a clock of some sorts where the eyes move side to side in the future.

OH MY GOD! THAT'S TERRIBLE!!!!! IT DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE REAL THING!!!!!!!!

It has NO Harrison Ford with it!!!!

***** people. Really. It's the ****ing idol. Anyone will recognize it. Stop your ****ing *****ing about getting quality props finally. *******s.

I don't think people are being too dismissive. As I said, comparatively, I wouldn't buy it because I think it looks awful, but I can't unsee what I know about the actual prop. When it comes to something I have no expertise in (the Vader reveal), I loved the presentation they came up with.

The presentation idea on this one is great, too. But they could have spent a little time getting it right, considering that Diamond Select put out a cheap plastic bank that has a better overall sculpt to it (though it has plenty of its own issues). Again, it doesn't cost them any extra to pay attention to the details. That's all people are asking.

People would recognise a Ford mustang as a Mustang too even if you put a 5ft tall spoiler on the back, installed beaded seat covers, a 2ft high fake air intake hood on the front and brush painted it with exterior masonary textured paint, doesn't mean it would look great.

Can't speak for anyone else but i buy my props because i like them and i wan't an accurate representation i don't care if i could buy an inferior version cheaper that's innacurate but would fool 99.9% of everyone else, the props are for my pleasure first and foremost.

I'm buying it and I am an Indy fan and collector. It is no way near as cool as Goblers idol, but mass produced is never as nice as custom. Custom made is a piece of art.
I like it for what it is, but am mostly buying it for the pedestal.

This is a prop forum, where accuracy counts for everything :)
It's like me and the Vader costumes. I don't know what everyone else sees (probably need side by side screenshots), but they all look like Vader to me. And yet, you still have people complaining about accuracy and which helmet looks the best, who makes the best, etc.

I think the price is fair considering what the alternatives are going for. You can find a way cheaper raw resin, but once you add everything up, it'll cost you more. Isn't Gobler's price double the Sideshow? I guess that's what people pay for accuracy.

Different people have different standards for different items.

Sometimes close enough is fine.
Other times... it better have the atoms arranged the same! :lol

I'm passing on this one.
