SIDESHOW ALIENS BUST

Just wondering if anyone has received their sideshow 1/1 aliens bust yet?
I just checked the tracking info on mine and it arrived in the UK today.

Has anyone received it and took some photos yet :)

I'm not looking forward to the customs charge. The amount that was taken out of my bank was £550 UK Pounds, which is around $40 more than i calculated. Sideshow must have the same sort of conversion rates as paypal.

Keith.

I had one on order but cancelled it so I could buy my Cinemaquette Endoskeleton.

I look forward to seeing your pics Keith. :)

Cheers,
Ben

I would have liked to have taken the pics in daylight, as the flash makes the colours stand out way more than they do in real life. I was very pleased to find that the paint job is extremely well blended and is very subtle.
This thing is huge and very heavy.

I took this last pic without using the flash. Even though its too dark, it shows how much more subtle the paint work is in real life and not under the camera flash.

Thanks wackychimp for hosting,

Does anyone know why they sculpted the alien smaller than the screen used aliens? Seeing it at Comic Con I am positive it is 10%-20% smaller than lifesize. It looks so good that it might not matter to anyone. I just wondered.

OOOh that is nice :D

Now I`m upset that I cancelled my order :(

Nice score Keith

Cheers,
Ben

Not sure about the size issue - maybe it was just down to a size/cost issue ? I bet its heavy enough as it is, without being completely 1:1

I also saw it at Comic Con and was very impressed with the finish. Here's the prototype and I'm sure the finished pieces are as good as this.

I was very tempted to get one of these but was concerned that the customs/VAT would be a killer, although it was great Sideshow did free shipping on it.

Cheers

I just measured mine and it is a whopping 36 inches long. It definetly is not scaled down. Most recasts of the head are actually smaller than the sideshow version.

Looks a great piece, only thing that looks a bit funky to me are the lips and tendons round the mouth area, clear cast resin does not look the same as the good old condoms they used originally.

I don't think its any smaller than the originals. The cast off original war head i sold was around the same size as this one, if not a bit smaller.

It is REALLY heavy. Its not just the weight, its awkward to carry because of its shape and the thought of knocking it into something and damaging it scares me to death. I'm going to have to make one hell of a strong shelf for it thats for sure.

As for the tendons, the first thing i did when i opened the box was feel those hoping that they would not be made from any kind of rubber, as i hate anything made from rubber or latex on prop replicas.

I didn't get a customs charge at the door, although i'm sure i will get one in the mail within the next week or two. A few times in the past, i've received something and thought i got away with the customs charge, but then i've received the bill in the post.

Keith.

got mine and the side tendon was broken off. clean break, but broken, none the less. I also tried to gloss up the front of the dome. big mistake. the gloss didn't take in areas and it started spotting up like oil on water. definitely higher caliber production quality paintjob, but nowhere near the prototype. I got #103
