This was cast from an original mold and electroplated by the same company that did the original Idols back in 1980. This is the one I've been after for so long. It was a very limited and low-key run which was quietly mentioned elsewhere but I figured I could share with all of you here.

Here is a pic of the new Idol (on the left) compared to one of the more common sculpts which is gold plated.

I used to be a big fan of the gold plating for obvious reasons, but now after seeing the electroplating in person, I'm all for it. It's just as lustrious as gold but with a thicker, more yellowish gold color. Much more accurate to the film. Of course, you have to start with an accurate sculpt and this one is by far, the best I've ever seen. Contrary to what some of you would believe, there are no holes in the eyes. ;) A common misconception.

I finally have the Idol I've always wanted. :thumbsup Me...happy.

You can definitely count me green with envy!!

Looks great. Congrats on acquiring this one.:thumbsup

very nice! i agree with you about the electroplating. it really makes the idol pop! if you don't mind me asking, what did that run you?

Now that is a beautiful piece :thumbsup

And lucky for you, I run an Unwanted Idol Reclamation Center. So just send over the old one and, because you're a member, I'll waive the normal processing fee ;)

I can't believe you don't have a canvas bag o' sand next to it :D

Very cool indeed!

Knowing Agent5, he probably has a whole shelf filled with sandbags of various makers and origins, all representing the several shots in the movie ... ;)

Nice Idol mate!

That is gorgeous! Sweet acquisition. :thumbsup

Ya gotta get yerself a stone pedastal display for that thing. And then when your friends come over to see it, you can toy with them by leading them into the display room only to find that there's a bag of sand in its place. :lol

Sorry, just geeking out there for a moment.
