Hi guys. OK, well it is getting on for two years now since we started looking into creating this replica. We are now at the point where we can see some real results. The plastic, in the correct gauge was simply impossible to locate. We eventually got very lucky after talking at length to an engineering plastic supplier, who had a heap of contacts and managed to track down a limited number of sheets for us. We bought them all, but, there is not a huge stash.
The plastic is nasty to work with, we had the usual issues with cooling lines, but pushed hard to create a replica of Simon's, which was always the goal. Once we had cracked it it's pretty good to work with. I can see why the helmets were created using this stuff for sure, the detail is amazing.
We don't post a lot of the more day to day stuff here on the RPF, why would we? But we do have fun with it on our Facebook page, get over and like us if you want to see more about this project and the other stuff we are upto. RS Prop Masters | Facebook
Hope you enjoy the photos of our replica, we are really proud of this baby :love
