Showoff: My Classic Galactica props!

Yeah, the shuttle is one of the SMT kits. A lot of controversy and ill will around that... not on my part, I got mine just fine and the kit was lovely... but you know how it goes with garage kit stuff. Personally, I love the kit and am very satisfied with the results! I just wish someone would come up with a landram kit before I force myself to scratch-build one! LOL!

Wow...very nice! Where did you get the cubits? I would love to have some of those. Would you mind posting a few more pics? I would like to see the blaster out of the holster, the Buck Rogers blaster, and a closeup of the cubits...if you wouldn't mind?:)

Very nice -
Hook me up if you ever decide to cast that Buck Rogers pistol I see lurking on your wall...:)

Actually, if you look for them, the BR pistols are pretty easy to find out there. In fact, I got both of mine off this board from another member. Do I remember who? Of course not. I don't remember what I had for lunch today much less where I got resin casts from! LOL!! :lol

Oh, and by the way... thems' ALSO pistols from the planet Terra on Galactica!:cool

The cubits are from many different sources. If you look on eBay you'll more often than not find them for about $8 a pair from various dealers.

The laser pistol (not actually called a blaster on galactica) is from a complete re-build and is a hollow cast. Somebody re-created the entire gun and is rotocasting copies. Once again, do I remember who? Not a chance. I still haven't had the time to get down and do some painterly lovin' on it. It needs accent colors on the buttons and the grips should be painted leather brown like the originals.

The BR pistol is of dubious quality. It was quite a haul to get it cleaned up and filled (it looked like swiss cheese when I got it, but I knew that was the case). I machined new clear acrylic tips for both of them. teh smaller pistol has a resin oil weeping problem on the bottom of the handle. Even though I sealed it well with primer. I have to get back to it and gouge out the offending area and re-sculpt it with Apoxy-sculpt and re-paint it.

send me your email address and I can send you much better pictures of some lovely cubits that are stamped from brass!

Second post, second image. Is that the Borellian Nomen laser bolts? If so, do they work? BTW,

SHOW OFF!

Jim:cool

You don't usually see that rifle or the tankard.

Nice collection, but your Imperious Leader is naked!

Yessir... direct from the desert of the Scorpius. I had to wrench them out of the dead hand of a Nomen after filling him fulla hot light from my laser pistol!

But seriously, they're bathtub knobs. As far as I can tell, they're the right ones... the style hasn't changed since the 1970's! They are actually held together by sympathetically placed rare earth magnets. You can pull them apart with a good yank... and put them together again with a satifying "click" like on the show. Still haven't figured out how to make them glow or to magically stick to a sash of ultrasuede yet, though....

And hey, if you got a collection what's the point of keeping it all to yourself??? :lol

I've made several runs of the tankards. The base mugs are hard to come by these days. But I still have the mold for the birdie, so if anyone's interested...

The colonial rifle is one of three that I've made (or am in the process of making). I have extra parts for others, but the vac-form process is a poor method of generating the proper-strength cowling for a rifle like this. It's how they did it for the show, but the pieces they made were only for one episode (Baltar's Escape) and were of very poor construction. On subsequent rifles (if I actually make any more... I'm not sure at this point) I'll be skipping the vac-form altogether and building the bodies from Sintra sheet stock. It'll actually be easier than working the vac-forms and building all the internal bracing to make it sturdy! It'll look exactly like the earlier versions, just more solid. I've actually considered making several and renting them out to Galactica fan film makers. In that case, they'd need to be bullet-proof. Ever see what an actor can do to a prop they've been told to be careful with? Its like a curse! Tell an actor to be careful with a prop and it's GUARNTEED to be broken beyond repair before the cameras even roll.

And yes, the Imperius Leader IS naked. Haven't you ever wondered what he was getting up to in that big, empty, pedistalled chamber of his when nobody was looking?

Any idea of the model number or brand of the knobs. Do you have a close up shot?

I picked those up at the local ACE Hardware. There are two versions in the same style, a large set and a small set (sink versus tub I think). I used the small set. I forget the brand though. There's a very close match in the MOEN line called "Chateau".

There's a couple of really nice clear shots in the Man With 9 Lives episode.
