I know this ain't the same "custom" you all are looking for.
No fancy graflex and not a real parts Vader, but a custom request from my nephew.
Anything for him goes to the top of my list.
He's completed (at my expense) his Ultimate FX lightsaber collection, all except Qui Gon Jins.
Now he's on to ones that were never made.
So, let's make them.

Started as an $8 extendoblade, single led, no sound Mace Windu cheapy lightsaber.
Disassembled it, drilled out the back and added a screen for the speaker.
Used PVC as a holder for the speaker and to fit the blade to the hilt.
Used 1mm foam between the PVC and the hilt and between the blade and the PVC for a sug fit and to a little give during his battling.
All the electronics fit in the upper half, while the 3.7v 18650 battery fit in the lower half.
The rear speaker piece comes off as it did stock for battery replacement.
It truly looks as if it belongs with his others.

This thread has been ignored too long!

I finally got my hands on a DeMornay Bidd. In trying to figure out what to do with it, I decided to steal a PCB card from a DMB clamp on another saber... and in turn decided I didn't like said saber.

I posted this several months back:

And I decided I REALLY don't like those metal grips. I did that on a bunch of sabers and without a drill press it's just impossible to get them drilled and aligned properly. I drilled out the rivets and took them off, and the holes made it even more clear how off everything was UGH.

Stole the card as planned, and then covered the holes with t-track. MUCH happier with this one now.

I say cut the ridges off the t track. Make the grips flat, like the Yoda saber.

First saber of the new year!

This is another Minicam conversion, this time using a series of hard drive motors to build out the emitter. This flash was missing parts wehn I got it so the activator box -- a stripped and polished Heliand 2-cell bracket -- is screwed directly into one of the exposed holes with an M5 machine screw. The bulb release was replaced with a bicycle valve adapter topped by a clear glass cabachon. The flash button was removed and replaced with the knob cut off the side of the bracket. Grips are from Todd's Costumes with a TCSS d-ring riveted to the side of the flash body and a strip of lure tape wrapped above the end cap.

This one feels a bit SethS to me. ;)

The Minicam is probably my favorite current flash to work with. This is my third conversion, and I picked up a fourth as yet untouched.
