Show your custom Lightsabers!

I thought I would finally show off my custom lightsaber which I designed in 2005 and finally got it made by RandomSabers in '06. Here seen next to my Episode 1 Obi-Wan saber hilt :)

I wanted a hilt that was a cross between Obi-Wans EP1 and EP4.

Sorry, I meant that has anybody made sabers that they are proud of and would like to share their build process
I see. Mine are machined, but most of them consist of multiple parts. I'd be happy to snap some pics of a few disassembled if you like. Taking a design and figuring out HOW to make it can be the most challenging part.

I was going through my collection and I came across a vintage S.A. Equipment Safety Torch which I purchased a while back. This was one of the pre-production lightsaber prop candidates as seen in The Making Of Star Wars book. Below are the photos of it. I included my Roman's ANH Obi Wan saber in the photos for size comparison. It's pretty big. I need to strip off the yellow enamel paint which will be a pain.

Im a geek for the historical film aspect (real used props, prototypes and found parts) so that was actually twice as cool learning that. I'll have to pick one up myself.

check out "Toms Kobold and Mystery sabers" for my current custom pieces

Here's the very first sabre I made using pvc piping and some odd n ends I had kicking about:

Made some for my kids as Christmas presents but don't have beauty shots of those, only WIP pics:

I recently wanted to up the ante and move to all metal hilts so made this hybrid alu/pvc to start the ball rolling for a mate of mine (WIP pics as well, sorry):

After buffing the alu

The pvc was then painted matt black and then I applied a hint of silver using rub n buff.

And finally my current project I'm calling the "Lance" due to its 14" length. Mostly from stock alu tubing which I reamed so each would fit inside the other, then cut to taste and assembled.
The other bits on it are turned tube couplers, also slightly reamed to find as they were already very close to being a perfect fit:

I don't have a lathe (yet), but I did make myself a hand fed milling machine from a drill press, and an xy machinists vice which has been invaluable to this build so far:

Still a few things to do before its finished

Scored an unusual Peak 3 cell flash on Ebay recently.

I've owned over a dozen of these over the past 15 years and this one has some major differences. This one is chrome plated, it has an extra port (an oblong port, like on the Heiland flashes) and the push button is smooth with a clear button, instead of knurled with a black button.

After talking back & forth with the seller, I ended up with 6 Peak clamps. 5 new, one used. Gonna see if I can get the used one chrome plated locally. Looking forward to converting this one.

Nice find. I love my Peak flash conversion. Mine has the extra port as well although it has the knurled knob with black push button.

Question : Would this Peak flash conversion profit if a Darth Vader customizing set would become available again ... with i.e. a shroud, clamp, bubblestrip, T-tracks and pushbutton greeblie perhaps even an MPP like endcap? Roy and I are debating such a set for a Heiland conversion ... and I personally just wonder if a vintage Peak flash or perhaps even a Sun flash would also benefit ... if we can make it happen of course :)

I'm all for that... I've got a square port hole heiland I'm borderline ready to throw back up on the bay or junkyard cuz parts to make it a "kiiiiinda" vader saber aren't around... at least not cheap.

if you guys did a set, I'd slap on an mpp clamp, pushbutton... finish it off...

Though not sure what I would need it for... just another random innacurate saber...

Give it to kids to mess around with?

Either way, I'd be in.

Anything happening with Vader ROTJ MOM?

It's also on our list to debate ... so be a little patient before tossing flashguns out into the bin ... we are just 2 huge SW fans who love to provide accurate parts ... in our spare time whenever available ... so bear with us :)

awesome flash! Peak....I'll have to look into them. We're all procuring weird flashes these days - my dad just picked up a HEAVY flash unit of some random make with a bar running from the clamp to the base, levers and knobs all over the top and an adjustable reflector hood with a socket in it.

Those peak's look really OT, they'll make excellent sabers

such a great thread. it oozes talent and truly is inspirational. looking at the sabers makes me dream of owning a lathe someday :)
the only other option to create a custom light sabre would be to gather interesting metal parts and come up with a cool "composition" right?
