Designed this one during a free hour this morning. I would eventually like to make it into an actual prop with a removable blade ; but have no clue where to actually start.

That’s a cool design. Do you have ideas of what material you’d want to make it out of? If you are able to 3D model it, you could get it printed, or you could try to use found materials to construct it. That’s always a fun way to start.

Thank you! I was thinking some kind of dark grey brushed metal for the lightsaber body and emitter; rubber black grips, brass pop rivits for holding those two thin panels on the side, a plastic or rubber switch; and for the dark grey areas in between sections of the body im thinking some kind of plastic with sculpted wires and circuitry that shows off the inner workings. Sort of like sections of Kylo's saber. I tried to draw it on paint but it just looked like random lines in 2D.

With the exception of the ball type choke, I feel you could get VERY close with the custom saber shop MHS parts.
They might be able to machine a round choke like that if you ask them?
It would be a good base to start with and you could use sleeve material to make the rest of the attachments you want.

I didn't know that they took orders for custom hilts. I'll hit them up. Thanks for the tip!

What I'm telling you is, most of the saber you have designed, you could build easily with the modular parts available at thecustomsabershop.com.
The only thing they dont already have is the ball shaped choke, but you could email them and ask if that one particular part could be custom made.
They do offer a service to modify things they already have.
They wont make you an entire custom saber. The whole point of thier site is, they make enough custom modular pieces so you can build a custom saber yourself.
Its worth a shot. I have been a customer for over 13 years. Its top notch and they are very helpful if you ask for something within reason.

I really like that nice and simple crystal chamber section! I'm usually not a huge fan of the insanely ornate ones but this looks like something I could build myself.
Very nice!
Are your chassis discs 3d printed? What is thier OD?

Thank you!

They are. Made them in TinkerCAD and Shapeways print them. They're 1.14" and have holes to match up with Goth-3Designs chassis. Plus some other holes to route wires. Then there's a bunch of recesses to hold some tubing and the knurled thumb nuts. In place hopefully it works out.

That's awesome! I really like the simplicity.
I need to get back to my saber. I did cut the material for my circuit card. I need my wifes cricut to make the copper traces.
Once that gets done I will post the process/result.
Then once I see the card finished I might be motivated enough to finish the button chassis and wiring for the activation box.
Then on to the chassis, mounting the CFX, and building a pixel blade!

Here are 3 of my 6 (so far) flash-based saber projects. First one is a Graflex 2772, middle is a Leica Leitz, and the bottom one is a Graflite Jr. 3-cell. All need some weathering done and then maaaaaaybe some installs. The Leica is probably just going to stay static, though.

I've made a bit of progress on my Sol flashgun. I cut down the shroud section and made a new emitter section out of sink tubing.

I added a repro MPP clamp and bubble card from The Custom Saber Shop (meant for another project I am working on, but it looked better on this).

I am planning on wrapping leather between the MPP clamp and the pommel, similar to Rahm Kota's lightsaber in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

I plan to eventually add sound and lights, though that will be sometime later.

Hey all this thread was brought to my attention by
thd9791 who noticed my lightsabre build thread over in general modeling and encouraged me to post it here
so this is my light sabre made out of random junk i had lying around in my workshop/hobbyroom
