Show off thread: Some of my Shawshank props - New stuff 2010 - 2015

Re: Show off thread: Some of my Shawshank props

I promise you will be blown away. I know I was when ten years ago a friend gave me a VHS tape of a movie I had never even heard of and told me I must watch it...

Nice items my friend...even if I haven´t seen the movie.
BUT I feel encouraged to do it now :lol

Re: Show off thread: Some of my Shawshank props

I've been to Mansfield Reformatory on a private ghost hunt. We went into areas that were closed to the public. Some of them were used in filming and were in horrible condition. The ghost hunts they hold are to pay for the ongoing restoration of the Reformatory.

Here are some images from Mansfield Reformatory and Shawshank filming.

Someone had mentioned earlier about them creating sets to film the movie secens in the cell blocks. This is partly true. Much of the filming was done on created sets like the one below, but from visiting Mansfield, you can see that there are a few cells that were painted for use in the movie.

This is a set obviously..

This is the actual prison..

Regretfully, much of the prison looked like this a few years back..

Great to see additional pictures of the prison and from the production! Such an interesting place to visit, I'm sure. And just look at those floating "orbs" in the second to last pic! ;)

Oh the dust in there is ridiculous, not just from the lead paint peeling off the walls, but the construction is moving a lot of old dust on the floors around. I'm not a believer in DORBS. (dust orbs), but that's another forum.

Ha! Just PM'd you on this very subjet!

The stumbling block now is finding a place to print a double broadsheet (front and back covers) on newsprint. So far nothing...

Small update in case you were wondering what happened to my Daily Bugle and Byron Hadley evidence letter project!

My Frankeneagle is made up from bits of two clipart eagles, plus a photo of a real eagle. All chopped into pieces, stitched back together and warped into the correct pose. Then printed out and attacked with white correction fluid and a black pen... then scanned back in :)

The bugle is also a photo of a real bugle which has been photoshopped to hell!

Re: Show off thread: Some of my Shawshank props (Added Red's parole file)

Me and my right hand man Chief Bast have been working on this set on and off for the past six months.

Red's parole file which contains all three parole decision forms that although only partially seen in the movie, we have completed with details from real ones:
parole3.jpg

...plus the police report on Red's crime, arrest report, crime scene photo and finger prints card. Most of the details come from the original Stephen King novella and we fleshed out the rest using a little creative license and the form layouts are based on real ones:

...also Red's court sentencing report, letters from the Parole Board to Warden Norton and Norton's replacement's recommendations to the Parole Board, and Red's 1967 parole application form.

These will be filed in a neat old fashioned style legal sized tabbed file folder.

Sa-weet! Thoae are cool! Are you aware that the photo of "Red" is actually Freedman's son? Always thought that was cool.

I didn't know that actually. But the first time I watched Ten 'til Noon I thought it was Morgan for a minute!
