Hi guys. As most of you know this hobby of ours can be hazardous to our health if we don't take precautions. Im rebuilding a shop in my basement and wanted to know if anyone has a ventilation system they are happy with. Was thinking of getting a bathroom exhaust fan and ducting it to the outside. Mostly concerned about vapors from all the noxious stuff we use. Apreciate the feedback.

Just make sure there it's a high volume model.
Something like this...

Here are two threads that talk about this issue:

I made a custom ventilated workbooth using two marine bilge blowers and it has worked brilliantly. Now that I have moved and I'm setting up a new shop, I had two holes cut in the outside wall for standard 4 inch dryer vents. The next step is to hook up the exhaust on the bilge blowers to the ducts so the air is routed directly outside.

The only challenge with this setup is the wiring and power supply. You need a heavy-duty, quality 12V source. Mine is a 30 amp Astron switching supply. I designed my wiring to prevent sparking as this can be an issue whenever you switch a motor or relay coil OFF (AC or DC, same problem). Without adding special components to suppress sparks, it is common to get an arc at the switch and/or relay terminals that can possibly ignite flammable vapors. Spark suppression circuitry solves this problem.

That looks entirely inadequate for your needs. I had better come over and remove it for you. :love

While bathroom fans seem to be an easily accessible option, there is a possibility that arcing from the motor brushes may ignite the vapors you are trying to vent. you may want to consider a squirrel cage blower assembly, that way the motor is not in the path of your spray.
