Shenmue Mirror replica, wood carving 1st timer with question

sorry im just so immensely frustrated by not being able to do anything that might give me just a tiny feeling of being fufilled....

Ah, sorry. Your location says Japan, so I thought you are from Japan...

Hm... Try hobby stores like "Idee", they sell stuff like resin or buy it at the internet.

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation, but I think we're getting away from your mirror project. On youtube there are a lot of tutorials for silicone molds and/or thing like fibreglassing. Of course you need enough space for projects like this. Sometimes you can hire a room in hobby garages for a few hours and work there. Maybe that's an option?

After making 5 of these just to practice carving (which I have never done before) I finally made these two.
Still dont like either one of them but this should be enough to finish the project but before I paint them
there is one other problem.

See the square in the middle?
I messed up and made the pheonix square too small as you can see on the dragon.

I think the best course of action would be to slap some material (not expensive resin) on the sides
of the smaller square but never did something like that either and would like to know what to use.
Wood putty? something putty? but putty is not to create geomitry but to just fill holes etc right?
My plan is to just put up cardboard or something on the sides of the square and fill it up with
some material that will then harden and can be filed to size afterwards.
Or slap something on that hardens, like clay or plaster but of course these two options are very bad.
What do you suggest?
