Shaun the Sheep.

I love Shaun the SHeep.

My 7 year old and I watch it together. Needless to say, after making her a Rudolph, she wanted a Shaun.

So, in between bondo and paint drying on the glider, and casting Bwing Kit parts....I made this:


I made the head out of clay. Then molded it, and cast it in resin. Took 4 tries!

I used a real walnut base, sprayed adhesive on it, and dumped some grass I had from another project.

I made the body out of a toilet paper roll, fill with resin, then sanded into shape.

I found a blog an intern posted. She had a few behind the scene pictures. Good reference, wish there had been more. She told me the Eyes are 9mm beads, with the pupils painted in. I found 10mm, and figured it was close enough.
The body is covered in synthetic wool that I bought on ebay. I'm forever grateful that my mother who taught me how to sew. The wool is sewn over his body, I didn't use any glue for the it (the wool).

Re: limbs, I did mine in resin, but my molds are set up to make the ears and legs in SILICONE, which is all the real ones are. THey use resin heads and bodies and K & S square tubing to connect the limbs, and the rigging for moving and posing the figures.

I considered a silcone one initially, and might sometime, I just wanted to do something quick for my kid.
