Given the new movie coming out, Star Wars has been on everyone's minds lately. The other day I got to bring some props in and give a talk to high-school students in Buffalo's BEAM program, hosted at University at Buffalo. It's a program geared towards getting minorities (and kids in general) interested in engineering. The kids couldn't sit still as I sat off to the side, waiting for their weekly class to finish. It was fantastic seeing their faces light up. A few of the kids actually asked me multiple questions on how things fit together, where parts came from and how they could fabricate their own. After lengthy discussions, I directed them here of course. :lol

That's me with the glasses, and my girl in the red and blue plaid who helped me build the Obi Wan saber.

Kids do like to swordfight though. Thankfully nothing is seriously broken, but there was some damage after they got out of hand swinging lightsabers, shooting blasters and dropping the prop they had to pick up the next one. *sigh*

The "light" was done by one of the teachers, who held a lego "lightsaber" stick up to his phone!
I got permission to post these, and I wanted to share :)
