This is something I have been thinking about doing for awhile now and tonight I started it.
I can't afford the UC Shards of Narsil but I have wanted one for awhile.
I will be cutting all the pieces out of the remaining blade and plan to display them all together.
I used my Dremel and about 12 heavy duty cut-off wheels to cut the sword into.
Take a look and let me know what you think.
I stiill have to clean it up and weather it, so keep that in mind..

Here it is.

Looks pretty damn good... Is that a knock-off sword???

Thanks,
Yes it is.
I gave around $30 for it from a local sword vendor.

so it took 12 blades to cut that,. they kepy breaking?
[/b]
I had about 3 break. The rest just wore down. The blade is 440 stainless steel so it will take some cutting to get through it.

Here is what I have now. I have finished cutting all the pieces out if the blade.
I need to weather it now. Does anyone have any suggestions how I could age/tarnish the blade of this thing?

Here are the new pics.

Looks awesome. I plan on doing something similar over the summer, and am thankful for the reference thread.

You've inspired me. I too have a knockoff narsil and a dremel, and have thought about doing this for years, but wondered if it was possible. Good job.

NIcely done. Don't forget the touches of rust (as on the UC version)...those elves don't take very good care of priceless artifacts. :p

That's very cool. I had considered attempting something like this (although I'm sure my version would have sucked compared to yours), but then realised I don't have space to display it properly.

Very nice work :D

Thank for all the compliments guys.
I plan on cutting an Elven shield symbol out of a section of plywood and adding some detail and hang it on the wall using shelf brackets. Cover it with a thin layer of foam rubber and cover it with some cloth.
But anyway it will be mounted to the wall.

Thanks,
Kenny

Nice.
I got a knockoff witchking and tried to weather the paint job to make it look closer to the UC version.
I got some paint that 'simulates a hammered texture' and some black and rust colored paint to do it as well...

That is definitely cool. Great job.
