Announcement Seller Feedback

For years members have asked for a way to give selllers (and buyers) feedback and for years we have resisted for reasons that I am sure don't need to be mentioned.

However, as our community continues to grow, we see more and more scammers slinking into our midst. While we must always remember that sales are private transactions and not directly managed by the site, we have long wanted to provide a member-driven tool that allows a potential buyer/seller to get a bit more of a feel regarding the history of the person with whom they are considering a transaction.

With that in mind, we have implemented a feedback system (similar to eBay) called iTrader, which allows you to rate your interaction with a seller/buyer.

How does the system work?

First, you can see an overview of the system by clicking Seller Feedback in the Navbar submenu or you can simply click the following link:

http://www.therpf.com/itrader_main.php

This will allow you to see recent feedback, search for members and get an overview of those who have had positive transactions and those who have not.

Beyond that, when you view a thread in the Junkyard you will now see a "Feedback" rating beside each member's post which is the total accumulation of feedback points a member has gained. Obviously, everyone is currently at 0. Negative feedback results in a -1. Positive results in a +1 to your feedback score. As with eBay, while a single member can rate a seller multiple times, it will only count as 1 positive or negative point (meaning a seller can't have a friend up their score multiple points for them).

At the bottom of each FIRST post in a thread within the Junkyard is a Leave Feedback button which allows you to rate your transaction with that seller.

You can also see Feedback information and submit Feedback from a member's profile page by clicking the Feedback tab.

Some general guidelines for leaving feedback.

Sales and Trades are PRIVATE transactions and while the Staff may step in to remove an obvious scammer from the community, it is not our job to mediate sales disputes. Likewise, if you are a seller and you earn a negative review, please do not come crying to us to remove it. That defeats the point of the ratings system. It is up to YOU to work with the buyer to ensure they are satisfied with the transaction.

With that being said, if we find that a buyer is taking advantage of the ratings system, or trying to use the ratings system to extort product from a seller, you may be banned from the community (and keep in mind that if you are banned from the RPF, you will also be banned from all of Movie Prop Sites properties, including The Dented Helmet and the Hunter's Lair.

Please do NOT go into the details of a transaction in the "Short Comment" field of the Feedback form. Something like "Good shipper." or "Great transaction. Would buy from again." will be fine.

Please note the "Additional Comments" field of the Feedback form can only be seen by you, the seller and the staff. It is NOT visible to the public.

We hope this addition is useful and encourage you to rate all your transactions here on the RPF as it will help other members decide who to deal with and who to avoid. It will also help the staff decide if particular members (those with overwhelmingly poor feedback) might need to look for another site on which to sell.

Woo hoo! Get in there and start leaving me feedback, bitches! :p

It's retroactive, so if you've purchased from me at any time over the last 14 years, chime in. This will be a great way to set a good example for the new guys who come on board!

You can visit any members profile page and click the feedback button: http://www.therpf.com/members/rylo/

Yeah, this is awesome! I know who I'm gonna give feedbacks to, If you have bought anything from me, please don't forget to give me some nice feedback too :)

For you guys who are sellers, I would strongly encourage you to reach out to (don't badger) your previous customers so they can leave you feedback, and you can likewise give them feedback as a buyer. This system works both ways!

"Sorry but you cannot rate more people today"

:cry

Uh huh. Just know... every time you do that, I get an email like this:

Suspicious iTrader activity from the RPF

The system has determined that Alan Castillo is doing something suspicious related to the iTrader system.

The reason this email was sent:
-------------------------------
Has tried to rate more users than allowed per AdminCP option.

Stop doing "something suspicious," Alan.

Maybe this restriction can be disabled for a week or two so we can build it up :) ?

A small suggestion.

If someone is looking at the feedback page to check out a seller, it would perhaps make it easier, if possible to do so, to make the seller list in alphabetical order.

Scrap that. Clicking on the profile will do it :lol

... off to make my second coffee :lol
