Well fingers crossed ill be soon able to paint my Biker Helmet after a long period
from doing any projects.

At home I've re-sprayed my Boiler Housing white using Plastic-Cote gloss white
sprays it turned out not to bad.

But is there a way of getting a good, smooth, gloss white finish with out taking my
lid to the local car sprayer.

anyone got any good hints and tips or a place or product i could obtain some where
in the uk

Can someone else tell Neil, as if i type out those instructions again i'll die of boredom.

dont know if this is the norm but i would paint it with a few coats of matt white, then spray on a good quality clear coat.

that is of course if you have an airbrush.

if not, then i would paint it with white car spray paint, then wet sand it smooth and get a good quality polish and buff the hell out of it.

In the case of my helmet I used acrylic gloss paint from Homebase that can be used on radiators, pottery & plastic etc.

Keep the spray can moving at a constant distance and only do a bit at a time to allow the paint to dry a bit to avoid overspray.

I went for the weathered look so I used a combination of rubbing in black pastel, light misting with acrylic black and dabbing some green & brown enamel paint to simulate foliage. Finally I sprayed a light coating of Plastikote acrylic satin clear to both seal the pastel and dull the high sheen. You can't expect to be dirty and gleaming at the same time ;)

If you're going to maintain the clean look then you can wet sand using a very fine grade paper and then buff to a polish using T-Cut or some other polish. No need to add a clear coat in this instance.

Very nice Firespray.

Has MLC produced a new design or did you go to the trouble of resculpting the snout area?

Thanks for the complement RKW. I resculpted the snout area myself. You can see a few progress pics over at BikerScout.net in a post titled Making Some Progress.

I was expecting done pics, anyhew what was said above, Kryon fusion gloss white, all in one. Great stuff, simple to do. Practice first. :)
