SDS website banging the war drum?

All,

I was looking at the SDS site as they have a sale on and in the sale link there are some pretty scathing remarks aimed at George Lucas / LFL.

I don't know what to make of it at all.

http://www.sdsprops.com/sale.html

This offer last until the end of March 2008. Be part of the fight against the darker side of greed and free these iconic characters for the fans… This offer is for the UK and the rest of the world - NOT the USA – thank Lucas for that…..
Look forward to hearing from you Andrew Ainsworth

Clearly AA feels he will be able to ship to the US again as well

Allocation of supply restricts orders accepted from the USA until April 2008

Are the March / April dates significant to the lawsuit in the UK.

Is this just tubthumping on the part of SDS or do they genuinely believe they have a chance?

Is this effectively a closing down sale?

I know SDS threads are just tedious and go round in circles but I am genuinely quite shocked at the way things are worded and are posted up on the site.

If the mods see this as being too volatile a topic then lock it down I just thought it would of interest for the forum members to see the new and unusual stance the SDS camp has taken.

I would have thought they would have went for a lower key and more dignified approach on the run up to a court case.

Well my guess is that the UK is coming to a close very soon, it's been going on for quite some time... And unlike the US courts UK courts like to keep what is happening a little more secret until it's over so unless someone has a non-biased inside scoop then we will have to wait until the case is over and the actual court documents are released to get any factual information...

So IMO (notice option) the above sure looks like (or hints of) a fire sale cashing in before the hammer falls...

Pretty bizzare Chris i dunno where you get the impression he thinks he will be able to ship to the USA though when it say NOT USA in caps.
Maybe something pointing towards the courtcase being heard soon who knows ?
Maybe he's finally decided to call it a day and want's to make some more money before shutting shop.

Well, let's be honest, he's pretty much thumbed his nose at them since day one. If he's going down fighting...(where's that AT-AT pic??? :D)...

Read the second quote...

The one which also says sales to the US are restricted you mean ?

That could either mean the case will be over by then or he is indeed shutting shop, it does not automatically mean after April US orders are accepted.

Funny. Without Lucas, there wouldn't be any stormtrooper armor period.

Yeah the second quote reads to me like he 'thinks' he would be shipping to the US after April 2008. Could just be the way I am reading it.

I think though with the defiant stance the site has taken that is what it is meant to mean.

It all just looks like sabre rattling to me.

Cheers Chris

well if nothing else, you've got admire his giant cajones :lol
he seems to have no fear. even after the U.S. case (that he ignored) he went on to add two more helmets to his catalogue (that he probably had absolutely nothing to do with originaly) and now this.
He a crazy fool.

Which two helmets ? i'd find that a bizzare move considering he removed the imperial insignia from the TIE and Gunner helmet because they weren't his designs.

I heard on good authority that the case does not go infront of the Court until sometime in April.

From what I can gather theyve spent the last 18 months just pulling all the paperwork together before the case begins proper in under a month.

I presume this is a way to get some extra cash in before it starts "in anger"

Cheers

unless he's taken them off the site the rebel fleet trooper helmet was one and the deathstar guard/security/not the gunner helmet was the other.
they certainly werent up there before the U.S. case kicked off but i remember seeing them both on there shortly after.
i havent checked it for a while as i have absolutely no interst in his products anymore.

Yeah they're both on there but who made them then if he didn't ?
Weren't there vintage photo's of both those in his catalogue ?
From what i recall prior to the US hearings he only sold the stormtrooper helmets and armour and the TIE pilot helmet, everything else was after.

It is a shame that we in the states cant order the helmets. I understand the LFL & AA debate but I just want to get an Imperial Navy helmet and now with the sale it is "some what" affordable.

***This is the point (hopefully) that some one pm's with a contact for a Imperial Navy helmet:lol***

theres no doubt he made them for the movie the same way theres no doubt he made the stormtrooper lids but he surely cant also claim to have designed either of the RFT lid or the DS guard so offering those as well he really is sticking his fingers up at LFL.
