Screen used Labyrinth necklace

Hi all.
It's been a while since I posted anything here, but I thought this might be of particular interest to some. To my surprise, the search function turned up nothing regarding Jareth's necklace from the movie Labyrinth.

My fiance' Nikki and I drove over 700 miles to attend Faerie Con in Philly, PA. While there, we ran into Toby Froud, who played the baby Toby in the movie Labyrinth. My fiance', being a huge fan of the film, noticed the necklace Toby was wearing as the one from the movie. Turns out there were actually three different styles in the movie, and the one Toby was wearing was one of the actual screen used ones.

It looks to be bronze or maybe brass, which we thought was wrong, but according to Toby, if you look closely at the film, the necklaces change style and metal type 3 times. This bronze one was in the scene with the M.C. Escher type of upside down room.

As he was talking about the 3 necklaces, he took his off and handed it to Nikki to see. I asked it it was OK to take a picture and he said sure, so here it is. Sorry it blurred a little.

Nikki said when he offered to let her hold it, her hands started sweating, which you can see a little in the pic. She was "having a fangirl moment". LOL. :lol

The back side of it was hollow, much like it was forged rather than cast. A pretty cool item I thought. Now if we can just get someone to sculpt one......

did you get a picture of the man himself? Curious to see how he looks now.

And my hands would be sweating too knowing that thing hung so close to Jennifer's..... well, you know.

Labyrinth is a great film. I actually watched it again two days ago when I was off work with tonsilitis.

I thought there was a company that made a replica of Jareth's pendant. I have seen pics somewhere but can't recall where at the moment. I didn't realise there were three different ones.

There is a company that does a replica but its TINY. Its nowhere near the right size. Of course, they were making it as actual jewelry to be worn casually. The real piece isn't something that a lot of people (and by that I mean everyday janes... not fans) would wear all the time just because of it's size.

But my wife immediately recognized it on the rack and wondered why they didn't make it the right size.

BTW: Looks like Toby's slimmed down and "hunked up" since the last time we saw him several years ago.

I just googled it now I am home from work and I believe it is made by Diamond Select Toys and to be honest, it is awful. Not even a good representation IMO.

I will have to look at the DVD again because I thought (although I wasn't watching too closely) that it was brass coloured all the time. I don't recall seeing it in any other metals. You learn something new every day :)

Labyrinth is my wife's favorite movie and she loves David Bowie so I'm pretty sure her hands would've been sweating holding that thing too. We actually saw the guy who played Toby at Comic-Con a couple of years ago when they had a screening of Labyrinth in one of the convention rooms.

A favorite film of mine as well. The necklace is amazing and thanks for the Toby picture! I've often wondered what he would look like today.

Screen used items from Labyrinth are really hard to find (trust me I've been looking for years). Here is a picture of a production piece I was able to pick up from The Propstore a while ago. This was a paint reference head of the "Blind Beggar" played by David Bowie. He was sitting in the oubliette when Sarah and Hoggle follow the crystal ball only to realize it's Jareth.

Enjoy!

You know, when I went to the San Diego ComiCon a few years ago, I saw Brian and Toby Froud there, although I hadn't realized they were going to be guests. It was nice to shake their hands and tell Brian how much I like his art. I got a picture of them both - I'll have to check and see if he was wearing the necklance in that. Toby apparently is into some form of propmaking/sculpture, because he had some masks that he made.

I was totally in love with Jennifer also.

This was a great movie--my kids loved it when they were small. great prop find!!!!
