Hey gang,

Here are some screen caps of the middle earth map from the beginning of Fellowship. I figured since I was going to need them to work from for my map, I might as well post up all the reference material I have for everyone.

Enjoy

As you can see, there is only one visible crease that runs from top to bottom on the left hand side of the map. But, since there are some obvious details missing from Adam's map (i.e. not completely screen accurate), I'm on the fence about adding the crease.

Hydin, if you read this thread, could you post the pic of the overall map in here so we can compare pics and not have to jump across forums? Thanks :thumbsup

I would love to add the missing details, but drawing is not my forte.

Anyway, hope it helps

Well, now that the Adam/Hydin maps are showing up at people's houses, here are caps of the map from The Two Towers

Now everyone has the choice of either version - FOTR or TTT

Enjoy,

Thanks for that Fred saved me the trouble :) I plan on redrawing the one from TTT notice the little red dotted lines, reminds me of train tracks lol. Adams map is awsome and I've already added my own touches to his.

Anybody notice that the land masses seem darker than the bodies of water?
Sorry if this is too obvious to have been mentioned already. Jason

I don't believe Adam's map is intended to be a replica of the film version. The film version is based on numerous ones printed before in various books. There's a myriad of different versions of this map, and Tolkien kept revising things along the way.

I wouldn't get hung up on comparing Adam's map to any seen in the film.

I agree, its a great map and I'm a huge fan of ancient maps, thats why i tore the edges and used the charcoal pencil to make it look burned.

Actually, except for a few details like the water lines, sea monsters and compass rose, Adam's map is pretty accurate to the screen map. Almost everything is where it should be. A few details are smaller on Adam's than the screen map, like Osgilioth and the black gates. They're small, but they are there.

If someone could get a hold of the original working files and was familiar with the program used to create it, it wouldn't be a lot of work to make it screen accurate. the placement of a few names would need to be rearranged and some details made a little larger, but all the hard work is done.
