Scratch Built Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1 FINISHED.

Re: Scratch Built Red Bull Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

The light test looks great! I love all the surface detail you are adding too. Personally, I would rather see your own designs and colors on this but I’m very curious as to what your futuristic Red Bull logo looks like too. Maybe the Red Bull logo could be more of a bumper sticker on the ship?

Re: Scratch Built Red Bull Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

The syncronization of the navigation lights is excellent!-love the you tube clips, thanks for posting.
I think if it was my ship design, regarding the colour scheme, i would go for something like a Promethius type drop ship with loads of weathering (i couldn't imagine the millenium falcon with coke logo's plastered all over it)...when i think of red bull i think of a race sponsor, and your design looks more....explorer instead of racer......Maybe i need to get out more!

I look at "Sparth concept design" books for ideas when doing scratch build stuff.

Fantastic work, really enjoy the updates(y)thumbsup(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Re: Scratch Built Red Bull Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Great video, the lighting takes it to another level (again). If I may ask, are you running manufactured circuits, or did you have to make those as well? They look amazing :thumbsup :popcorn

So when this is completed, will molds be made and kits sold??

Re: Scratch Built Red Bull Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Awesome progress Gagster!!!!!!!:cool I have to follow this build more often than my weekly setting. The lighting video is fantastic!!!!!!:D

I'm presently using the prewired LED strips. I need to get into fiber optic and individual LED's for any future builds.

Reamer:)

Sorry it took me a few days but I just found the link. This is the set i used,

Starship Modeler Store: Starship Lighting Kit

plus i got a basic LED set from Model man Tom,

Modeler's Brand LED Packs by Price Tier

My buddy wired it all together for me because i don't seem to mix well with lectric stuff.
I wanted it to look realistic and not over the top. I'm pleased with the results, i think you can go too far with lighting and it can end up looking like a christmas tree.

I think i will add another multi coloured flashing LED just so the cockpit lights aren't flashing at the same time as the external lights.

Thanks for putting that up for me! I don't know how many times I've scratch-built an assembly or wiring project, doing it wrong twenty times, only to find I could have saved a lot of time and energy with info like this. Thanks again, this project is coming along so well. :thumbsup

Re: Scratch Built Red Bull Delivery Ship 3011AD, The Nylon Gag MK.1

Morning Everyone,
Thanks again for stopping by and leaving comments, it realy does help me with this thing.

Well, i didn't manage to get back to the MK1, to many sausages, to much beer. ;D

Had a frustraiting week trying to get a direction going for the wing tops detailing, wanted to incorperate tubing, some panels, maybe some other small details.

The biggest problem for me is that because the ship is a bit twisted the two side are not symetrical so this became very obvious to me during this detailing process.

Lets have a look at what i managed to come up with.....PIX

The front 'blend' part of the wings needed someting to snaz it up a bit and add some interest.

Picture%2520009.jpg

Ran tubing lines from the central pumping/distribution hub.

Picture%2520016.jpg

Picture%2520014.jpg

I needed to fit the back detail sections so i could work on the blend area between the flaps and the main wing surface. So i painted the underside of the wing flaps in the same 90% white, grey, silver, buff mix. I had already pre-shaded this.

Picture%2520018.jpg

Picture%2520019.jpg

I then removed the masking and temporarily fitted the detail sections, took a few beauty pixs.

Picture%2520021.jpg

Picture%2520024.jpg

Then moved on to the upper wing/flap blend.

Picture%2520025.jpg

Picture%2520027.jpg

Picture%2520029.jpg

The small pieces are only glued close to the tan greeblie, then the transition piece is glued on the outer edge of the small pieces.

Picture%2520030.jpg

This top section is then floating a bit and will give when the flap is opened.

Picture%2520035.jpg

Picture%2520032.jpg

Picture%2520033.jpg

Added tubing and other gubbins to the top flap assembly.

Picture%2520039.jpg

Did the same for the inner flap but this section doesn't move.

Picture%2520041.jpg

Added some smaller details all over

Picture%2520053.jpg

Picture%2520054.jpg

Picture%2520055.jpg

Then just to see how everything looked a quick squirt of Primer on one side.
Mmmmmmmmmmm ;D

And thats about it so far, there are a few gaps that need filling on the upper wing, some scribing, some additional panels, we shall see what happens.

Take care

All I could do is stare longingly as your ship evolves. You're like a chef whipping out a masterful creation.
