I am still filling up my O'Brien tool box (as seen in DS9).

My latest tool is the pistol shaped thing.

It will feature a red LED activated by a push button.

Here is the progress so far with some reference shots.

Re: Scratch building a trek tool - beginning pix

FYI, I've often speculated that smaller similar versions of that tool might have been glue guns.

Just curious. What are you sourcing the case from? Scratch build or found item?

Re: Scratch building a trek tool - beginning pix

Hi,
No all of the ver. of this prop were all scatch built. The main body tube was alum. the end cap was alum. on the large one and brass on the small one. The handle on the small one was 1/8 styrene sheet plastic, and on the large one it was alum. If I can ever find the time to scan the negs. I will post pic's of these props as they were delivered to the show.

Hope this helps,

HMS Mike

Thanks, HMS Mike. That'd be great.

And yeah, the O'Brien tool case I have was a VHS camera case I bought on ebay.

I am rebuilding this prop based on some better images I have. Right now i am searching for the right acrylic rod for the "barrel" of this tool.

What do you all think, 1/4" diameter maybe? HMS Mike, wanna' comment? I'd also love to see those negs if you find the opportunity. :$
