[Scratch build] Star Trek Nemesis: phaser rifle

When you started with all of that cardboard, I had no idea it was going to turn out this incredible! Well done.

Thanks - unfortunately the weather is too cold to do much at the moment, so it's sitting on my self waiting for some better weather so i can sand outside.

Hi DS. Any update on your build.I just got into cardboard modelling and your rifle looks amazing,

It's been a while since I've been online. With COVID, and breaking my elbow amongst everything I've just got back to building this prop.

I've now attached the barrel (I found some half circle cross-section foam which I used to create the ribbed effect on the barrel).

It's not perfect and there's a lot of sanding and detailed work needed - but it's getting there.

Did a little more etching to the barrel. Decided to use up the last of a black matt spray can to see what it will look like without much further work.

Was rather happy that very little will need to be done (as the matt black hides a lot of the small imperfections).

First coat of paint. This is darker than the final paint will be. But it adds a nice depth to the final finish. Also started working on the barrel hand grip.

(Edit: latest weight comes in at 983g - so I am going to be not far off my original estimate of over 1kg once finished).
