Sorry if this has already been covered, but whats with the endoskull from the sarah connor chronicles? I know in the story the termie's are a new type (t-888) but is the prop completely scratch built? I'm talking about in the 2nd ep where Cromartie loses his head (i'd post a screen cap, but my PC's playing up at the mo). The 1st thing i noticed was that the new skull has 2 sets of pistons on either side of the jaw, and from there on in I noticed a bunch of other small cosmetic difference. So whaddya think? Mod of the existing skull or new build?

managed to get a Cap

I believe from looking at the details...it's a completely New Sculpt or a heavily modified Endohead casting,

1) The side temple details are completely different.

2) As you already mentioned the two sets of Pistons on either side of the jaw.

3) I know from watching the series there are 3 CPU computer chip ports because these Terminators are much more advanced.

4) The Jaw detail is very different from the original Endohead jaw.

5) The Nose detail is completely different.

6) The shape of the backside and base of the Endoskull is different.

Eh? I must have missed that part.

EDIT; Oh wait, got it now

(From http://terminator.wikia.com)
"According to the TSCC: Behind the Scenes featurette the T-888 possesses two more additional backup CPUs with the same neural net architecture (although this seems unlikely as Cameron Phillips was able to disable Vick by removing only one CPU). This idea was most likely dropped prior to filming."

I believe the real reason is much simpler... they didn't have the rights to use the real terminator chassis. They could use the names, characters, situations, etc, but they couldn't use the on-screen design.

That question came up in a thread on the LightWave Group. One of the guys there modeled a 3D T-800 that's significantly more detailed and accurate than the one on the Terminator TV show. When I asked what sort of idiots they must have working on the show, that was the answer I got. So needless to say, I'm much happier with this fan-made model than I ever would be with a screen-used one.

That seems unlikely to me, they are minor changes in design, if they really didn't have the design rights (which I also think would be odd - why wouldn't they?) they would not copy it so close. I think it is much like small lightsaber parts or other small continuity changes between movies - the folks making them are not obsessed with the material so close enough if fine (just like it is with 99% of the folks watching the show) as they are rebuilt by other prop makers who put a slight spin on things themselves.
That is not to say you are wrong, I just don't understand how/why that would be the case.:)

Ok, thanks for everyone's input.
Not too sure if this next question warranted its own topic, so i'll post it here ... I heard that this neon lamp (http://www.digiteltechnology.co.uk/prodDetail.php?p=2720332) is a pretty accurate equivilent to the lamp used for the film's endoskull eyes... has anyone used one of these? is it at all similar to the one used in the licensed endoskull prop? And on a side note, has anyone used the blue one (http://www.digiteltechnology.co.uk/prodDetail.php?p=2720335) in anything?

I believe that lamp is the correct version and is accurate to what was used on the endoskeleton in some of the shots in the movies. A person who was once a member on this board and replicated the skull from a screen used piece stated that the LED's in the eyes were the same as the one you linked too.

I know it's an old post, the show is dead, but there could be some cool Terminator related props/replicas still made from T:TSCC. Here are some examples, especially of the endoskull. I wouldn't mind the other items shown either.

The length of the teeth on the endoskull is something. Not enough fans I guess to make props from the show. :(
