Scammer , recaster warning : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

I, new member here on the RPF. Question for you guys in the U.S (I reside in Canada where tax laws are different): what's the tax law in the U.S. regarding e-commerce (Ebay, Etsy, etc) I mean this guys is making money...does he declares all of it when comes tax time or not? Would it serve a purpose to say something to the IRS or is the IRS already checking those e-commerce sites already and making sure that Uncle Sam is paid in full?

The law goes like this: If it's income, you must pay taxes on it. Don't think he's big enough to have the IRS do anything based on a random complaint though.

Depends on how he's being paid. Paypal will report your yearly income after a set limit to the I.R.S. - I think after $1,000 USD. I know Amazon reports your income to the I.R.S. after $500 USD from sales via their marketplace. Of course he could be asking for payments via Western Union or some other method, which wouldn't have an automatic report sent to the agencies.

His fans need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid that he's pissing in. He's got to clean up his act and stop with the "woe-is-me" card. Just shut up and finish the orders you owe people. His latest issue with Marvel only shows how he's not a business guy. You'd think he would've done a search to see if there was a copyright or trademark on "Snikt," which BTW there is.

His newest excuse is he's moving his shop again and has to set up a new space... and the excuses come rolling in!

Well. If nothing else, his GF is cute, lol

If that's her... "she" has posted before on various sites defending him quite vigorously...

just playing devil avocado here, since this thread has already managed to draw the unwanted attention from the intellectual property rights holder's legal team to him and more than likely other cosplay and prop artists - might I suggest avoiding notifying government authorities that may cause problems for the community? more collateral damage. let sleeping dogs lie

I think these sorts of posts lesson the integrity of this thread.

but that's just my opinion

I doubt that the amount of money most prop makers here make here would draw the ire of the IRS, they have a lot bigger problems to deal with, along with Mr Logan, or whatever his real name is...

Also, I highly doubt that this thread in particular was what drew the overseeing eye of Disney's IP lawyer. I would say he did that to himself with his massive self promotion and publicly flaunting that fact that he rips off anything he can from any IP holder to make a buck without making any attempt to do it legally.

Most prop and costume makers that do make a little money, are very humble and keep it on the hush hush, the ones that publicly flaunt their business, do it the right way, such as Volpin and punished props..... You can tell the difference immediately between the hacks of the industry, and the true upstanding prop/costume makers.

but wouldn't you say its better to err on the side of caution?
yes I doubt they're trolling the forum but when someone gives people a "villain" its not a massive leap for an individual to send an email or make a phone call that starts the ball rolling and ends up hurting the whole community.

I totally agree.... I also believe that karma will come around and bite him in the ass sooner or later. I don't see the need in anyone going out of their way to report him to any govt authorities or even disney/marvel. They have lawyers and whatnot that find that stuff out and deal with it.... Which obviously has already happened.

I just see this thread as a PSA for anyone that runs across it and was thinking of dealing with him. A large warning if you must.

As far as personally trying to destroy a guy.. I wouldn't go out of my way to do that.... Yeah, if he owed someone and they personally ran Into him, I would say you could embarrass the crap out of him publicly., but if you confronted him and never dealt with him, you could end up looking like an arse if you try to call him out in public, see what I'm saying..

If it weren't for this thread, I honestly would have never known of the guy... But now I know to never deal with him if I did run across him.

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

Despite the fact that Jim/Logan/"enter new identity here", doesn't want this thread existing, or bumped often,
Keep it ALIVE!!! Keep it out there for people to avoid his scamming ways. He has stolen money in the past and will continue to do it.
People need to be warned. It was not this thread that got him into trouble, it was his narcissistic attitude and thinking he was "god's gift to the costume community". He put himself out there, blasting on Facebook about his jobs, stores and conventions. He opened numerous store fronts. He would brag and brag and brag. And when the IP holders finally took notice, maybe even from a call by a ticked off customer, they noticed that he made a complete business out of selling their property. He sells items that they own the IP on. He gets paid to do conventions and appearances as their characters. He basically is @living" off of their IP, and it was that in a nut shell that most likely made them say ENOUGH!
It was his own doing and his alone.

With Paypal, the IRS set requirements for online sales and payments received. If you meet the amount of sales and income level, the IRS has asked Paypal to start reporting. Here are the requirements:
Under the legislation, we'll report to the IRS the total payment volume received by US account holders whose payments exceed both of these levels in a calendar year:
US$20,000 in gross payment volume from sales of goods or services in a single year
200 separate payments for goods or services in the same year

He obviously knows this and it has been pointed out that he used multiple Paypal accounts. It is clear that he is trying to avoid making too much on any one account so he can side step the report to the IRS.

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

I agree with moviefreak. This thread its self is an awesome testament and warning for anyone that frequents this site, and any search engines it pops up on. This thread alone, I believe it enough to deter a lot of people from dealing with him, and the only people that still deal with him are his "inner circle" of friends that he hasn't screwed over yet......

His own personality is what has drew the unwanted attention from disney/marvel, and he will continue to do so....

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

I hear you both and agree with and understand your reasoning of these points, I however got concerned when I saw the thread veering towards people calling the IRS on this guy, which to me could - all be it a very small chance - affect some of the community.

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

Here in Canada, the Revenue Agency could audit your account and if found guilty, they could make you pay with interests and even going back 7 years in the past to recoup the money (we also have a "snitch line" where you can call them with your concern). While I understand it might make some members uncomfortable, I've tried to make these people stop making light of the tremendous work of artists/fans that populate the RPF.
I'm sorry if that makes some members uneasy, it was certainly never my intention.

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

I was informed that "Jim Logan" is now selling on Ebay under the seller name " theclawman ".

At least going thru Ebay, there will be some accountability with his transaction:
If the item is not shipped on time - you can get your $ back,
If the item is not as described, crap, damaged - you can get your $ back...

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

I would say your source is correct......

He might be a noob to eBay and isn't aware how things work. He will be shocked when the first time he fails to deliver, Paypal rips the money from his account.
All I can say is, this is BAD NEWS for all those devoted followers who bought into his "woe is me" good guy rants. If they bought from him and are awaiting orders, they are screwed. First he changed the name of his company which he could use to avoid completing orders, but now.... He will have to scramble to keep the eBay orders complete and shipped (as eBay will hold him to it), so completing back log orders will never happen.
I am anxious to see all these people who defended him, stepping up and crying about getting their money stolen.

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

So he's recasting those gloves he bought off someone else now.

Depends, if he is selling more than 2.
From a previous post, it looks like there was 3 sets ( credited to "Palms and fingers by Prop Shop Garage")
There was at least 1 set sent to a customer :eek , but the others looks to be still accounted for.

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

Have you all ever just decided to flood his paypal address(s) with requests for payments? Noticed that might be another way to deter him...

Re: Another recaster : latest alias Loganprops, recent alias Snikt Shop

Just a quick update:
One of my sources informed me that "Jim Logan" has been removed from
the "Comic Con: A Cosplayers Playground" cosplayer list.
This kickstarter projects follows the lives of a few Cosplayers for 1 year to record a webseries. The project organizer was informed about the concerns with "Jim Logan". And after their own inquiries and assessment, he was removed from the list.
