Hi Everyone,

Newbie so go easy. Me and my partner have fallen in love with the idea of building a Billy from Saw on the tricycle R/C controlled so it rides the bike. I know a few people have done this and would love some tips and give us the low down from start to finish.

Or... if someone wants to sell one PM us.

Building we are thinking buying the doll on the tricyle then converting it be easiest right?

I haven't finished one but I'm currently in the process of building one. I'll show you how mine looks currently, though it now has paper mache covering it and I'm about to use putty to make a smooth coat over it, mine turned out too large but I can tell you where I went wrong and how to fix that.

I started with a simple plastic skull halloween mask, costs like four dollars at Walmart during Halloween, after it's like .99 cent. But I just used paper towels hot glued onto it to build it up into the general shape, balled some up into a ball and wrapped that in paper towel and then glued them on. I used ping pong balls for the eyes. Mine turned out too large because I bought the mask for 99 cent and it was an adult sized mask. If you can just find a base mask that looks like it'd fit a small child it'd probably fit perfectly. Also the mask I bought came with the hair so I didn't have to go hunting a wig. I'm hoping to finish this soon and see how it turns out, good luck with yours or getting one of your own.

Here's an update for OP, this was my first attempt at anything remotely resembling a puppet, turns out the head isn't too big and might be just the right size. Here's a few pictures of it with clay on it now, I found something called

"Marblex Self hardening Clay in moist form" that seemed to work pretty well. It'll take a day or two to dry then I'll paint it and I'll take pictures of that in process but here's how it currently looks.

Keep in mind it's only as smooth as I wanted it, I could've made it smoother and I still have to do the mouth piece which needed to be remodeled after I cut it out with a dremel but so far it's pretty simple, the dremel wasn't required just made it easier.

I'm actually glad you said something, I've been thinking about the details of painting it, as I know it won't come out perfect but painting can always do wonders if you get colors right. The puppet seems to look dirty white at the same time as nice and white. Your idea sounds like it'd work spot on. I'm going to use a paint pen to do the lips and cheeks. I thought the wig that came with the mask would've been perfect for hair but then saw that it seems to be straight in later movies, I haven't rechecked the original. But thanks for the idea, definitely gonna look into that.

Originally I'd thought I'd just do it acrylic white and then smear eye shadow on it slightly in some places to dirty it up.
