Saturn 3

I loved this movie as a kid (loved it even more as an adult, when I realized that Farrah Walked around half nacked through most of the movie. :lol) I haven't seen it in years, and I still hear the scanning sounds the robot made, in my sleep. (Of course, every time it was on TV, when I was a kid, my dad would chase me though the house, making that noise, so that may have something to do with it. :lol)

I really wanted to see it again, and to show it to my girlfriend, but every vidoe store I went to, said they had never heard of it. NEVER HEARD OF IT?! The kid at block bust, after looking it up on the computer, said "Wow, that's realy, realy, old, we wouldn't have that" (it came out in 1980, I was born in 1976, if it's "really, really old" what does that make me.:lol) I tried the second hand video shops, to buy it, but they hadn't heard of it either. I thought about buying it on ebay. It was only like $3. for the DVD last week, but now that Farrah past, it's $30. - $40. (Vultures. :( )

Anyway's, I would post this in the OT, part of the forms, as I welcome discussion of the movie, but the reason, I posted it here, is I'm hoping during the course of the discussion, some folks post some Merchandise info. ( props, models toys, etc.) I mean, has anyone done the robot? (scaled, or other wise.) Are there any other cool props form the movie? (maybe something cheep, that anyone could do, or have.) I would just like to have a little something in my collection, to memorialize this great "old" film.

On netflix you can watch it free via streaming video.

Yeap, I watched it recently too. I really liked this movie as a kid and I still think Keitel's character was a great villain. But, nostalgia aside, the movie didn't hold up very well.

Sadly, I don't have netflix, and I'm on dial up, so it wouldn't help me anyway's. (though I'll see if my girlfriend can order it on her netflix account.) I am glad they have it out there for folks.

I saw it got a pretty low rating on IMDB. (something like 4.4 out of 10) I guess maybe it doesn't hold up, but there are a lot of old films I still love, that people say that about. Maybe I'm just stuck in the 70's/80's

I do truly hate CGI. and miss true craftsmanship. (i,e, models, puppets, !!PROPS!!, that the actors could actually tough.)

it was a true collaboration back then. Actors, Prop department, costumes, cinematographers. Directors, writers, Makeup, Molder makers, etc. All to do a sean that looks amazing.

Now some stupid looking CGI robot, shoots some ugly gun, in some fakey manner, and the camera fallows that bullet through 5 blocks of biulding,s and every thing it passes through on the way, and the block of stone it chunks off, and every that piece of stone hits, only to see that the bullet missed its target. :( WHO CARES? I HATE movies like Transformers. (I mean I loved the show as a kid, but the movies SUCK) All flash, and no substance, and even the flash sucks. :(

Sadly this is the common rant of the dinosaurs like me, that just can't except that the old days are gone, and this now junk isn't going anywhere, and in fact it will only get worse. :(

Oh, well, at least we have the good "old" classics, of yesteryear, to entertain us in our "old age".

Dial Up?...WHat's that?! You must really be old! I jest! I was born in 73, and I love this movie as well:thumbsup

Saturn 3 was filmed here in the UK at Sheperton Studios, Funnily enough Hector the robot was placed at the end of "The Black Hole" ride at Blackpool Pleasure beach in the early 80's.
I wonder where the suit is now ?

Another one I desperately wanted to see as a kid but didn't get to. I'd love to have one of those suits with the white helmet. I think their boots look awfully close to the AT-AT Pilot's boots.

Here's another Farrah image I've never seen before until now (seated).

This is one of the movies my dad got on beta max and told me I couldn't watch, Which of course means that I waited till he went to bed. Loved it as a kid, even though it scared the crap out of me

Don't worry - since it's a really really old movie, they'll remake it soon to save you the trouble of having to watch all those nasty old practical mechanical effects.

Keitel's bug helmet.

Kirk Douglas' space suit.

The movie has a sort of "European comic book" feel to it... like out of the pages of Heavy Metal. The big space cruiser at the end is particularly nice.

Forgot about this flick.

Just remember it wasn't the greatest, but it tried to be different.

Thanks for the memories, and so long Farrah :(

:lol When exactly do we get the part of our future, when woman start dressing like that? We would NEVER get anything done. (well, noting work related anyway's.)

I have to wonder, did she sign up for the film, and they say "Oh, by the way, here's your costume." (in a very, very small, cheesy, box) Or did she see the costume, and say, "Oh, well, I always wanted to do a sexy comedy, sign me up." Costumes aside, Hector still freeks me out.

For some reason Hector always reminded me of IG-88. In fact, if I do get a copy of Saturn 3 on DVD, i'm thinking of adding Hectors scanning sound to the IG-88 head I'm working on, just to make it extra creepy.

It was still there in 1995. Or at least, at A Blackpool venue, can't remember which one - but it was at the end, so probably the same. Saw it, recognised it, unfortunately had a film camera without flash, so couldn't get worthwhile pics.

that box she sits on looks like the boxes that is in starwars only they are painted black...

Nope, that's a Weighted Companion Cube, definitely!!
