Salzo V4 X-Wing Build – Landing Gear Version

I had a big work assignment coming up and I tried to finish the X-wing before it kicked in at full force. I worked frantically for a while and to save time I did not make any posts on this thread. Yeah, it was that tense! Well, I failed, I didn't get to finish the bird and I had to put it on hold late March. The assignment is now behind me and I'm returning to the build.

In the rush, which now seems like somewhat of a series of mistakes, I realized I can't replicate the Red 3 exactly, as it were, I just don't have the skill to do that. So, it's a Red 3 inspired X-wing. I took some process photos despite the rush, I'll just have to find them.

Here's a work-in-progress photo with paint only, no weathering at this stage. Missing the green paint patches too. Please note, I made an error with the wing cannons and painted them mirrored compared to Red 3. Note to self: never rush these things.

It was a busy last stretch to finish this before the summer was over (it's short up here in the north) so I didn't update the build while at it. The X-wing is now ready for display, I may add a touch here and there still, but basically, it's done. I love the model, it's heavy and sturdy, a wonderful piece! Worth every penny.

Took it out for a spin yesterday. :)

I really like your model, great job
your photography is amazing. the pic in post 41 would be a killer poster!

Thanks! It is my first studio scale model and I love it! This forum is a treasure trove! That photograph turned out quite nice, with perhaps good typography, it could work as a poster indeed.

Nice Work!! Cool picture! Looks 1:1! :)
I figured if they can make it look 1:1 on the silver screen, it might be worth a shot trying it in a photograph too. :D Thanks!

That is some crazy forced-perspective! What lens is that, a 10mm?

SB
I'd call the technique foreground miniature-ish. The "-ish" is because it's not really a foreground miniature either, but it could be. It's a composite image shot with 16mm focal length with a full sensor DSLR.
