Salzo V2 Coming! My first SS! Pic Added 1-19-09

This is going to be my first SS kit. I'm not new to resin, I did a lot of resin Godzilla kits years ago, and of course my MWM. This will definately be the biggest kit I have ever done though. All of the builds here is what finaly got me off my keester to grab one. They have really been inspiring. I should have it next week sometime. I have read all the old threads I could find on the Salzo kits. If anyone who has built the v2 has any tips or warnings for me I'd be thankful. I have seen a pic of the kit I'm getting and it looks great. No warpped parts, nothing missing, little to no flash at all. It looks very clean.

Question though, do decals exist for the helmet markings?

I will do as many pics as possible. I have to get a new camera first though.

What wing number? I'm not sure yet. I would like to do Red5 but there are so many out there already that I think mine would suck in comparison.:unsure The response to the paint on my ProShop went over well so, I'm not sure yet. I am no X-Wing expert (an ex is a hasbeen and a spert is a drip under pressure) so trying to replicate the exact paint and markings is a bit beyond me. But, then again why not try, right?

I found soaking the fuselage in hot water and putting heavy weights on them overnight on a flat surface flattened them out, mine were slightly warped. They went together nice and flush after that.

Also the back end cap for the fuselage, was a little too large, I had to again, soak the back of the fuselage in hot water to spread the fuselage a bit to meet up with the end piece properly.

I guess I am saying, hot water can be your friend on this one if you have some fit issues. Don't try to sand the problem away first.

Hopefully there wont be any that need that. Are you talking about hot tap water or something from the stove? I figure it shouldn't be "boiling" as that would ruin it beyond belief :lol. So, how hot is hot?

Not boiling.
Just hottest tap water you got in the house should do.
I just ran it under the hot water stream for a while.

I'm not sure if you have some type of program that'll allow you to make your own decals,but here are some that I got from somewhere,that you can download for your own usage! These are for Lukes' helmet. You might have to adjust for scale. Just click on these once to enlarge,then click on each again for full sized view. Enjoy!

I look forward to your build of the V2 X-Wing i have one as well which i have yet to start on . Now i don't know about the kit you are getting but my V2 X-Wing did not come with the Luke pilot it came with i think was the pilot that ILM used in there X-Wings for the movie.

The one I have coming has two different pilots. I assume one is an "X-Wing pilot" and the other is the ILM model figure.

I will have no use for two pilots. Whatever one I don't use I'll give it away.

Question, what is the overall length of the V2? I have heard the V3 is a little longer and slightly larger wings.

I would be interested in the pilots as long as they are the X-Wing pilots and not the Harrer pilots that ILM used Robiwon.

I don't know about the length but the wings are a little longer.

It's a shame the action figures are not the right scale.
Some of them are nicely detailed and wouldnt need much work at all.

Here is a pic of the Salzo V2 I have coming from Nektu over on Starship Modeler. This is his pic that he e-mailed me of the kit I bought from him. Everything looks nice and straight. UPS says it will be here Wednesday.
