They are not shiny. I would say they are aged realistically in conjunction with the age/life/environment of the Lightsaber's known history.
It looks like you probably could take some steel wool and/or polish to it and shine it up if that is your cup of tea. Personally, mine will stay as-is.

Guys I'm not polishing anything. I just asked if it was shiny. Most if not all of the real ones while worn are still shiny. I just asked what the appearance was.

My wife picked up the mail and sent me a pic. She doesn't care one way or the other about lightsabers and she says it is awesome.
