Rule 63 Avengers Loki

what fabric is that from joanns?
It looks like exactly what I have, which is green microsuede. It should be close to the pleathers on the rack, and they only carry one shade of green as far as I can tell.

Also if you are curious about the individual trim pieces, Supreme Zipper Industries is having a sale on aluminum #10 zipper top stops which is what Satxer and I are both using on our builds. They're only selling the silver finish at that price but it's such a good deal that I'm just going to spray paint mine brass. So if you want to go that route, grab em while they're up!

When it comes time to do the contacts, I can recommend youknowit.com

I've bought several pairs of contacts from them for cosplay's in the past, and while I don't wear contacts or glasses normally, I had no problem with using them. They're good color and inexpensive, and they have a pretty nice selection.
these are my red ones i've used for various cosplays (gambit, zombie mario, the joker)

and these are the blue ones I bought when a friend dared me to dye my hair blue.

Kinda wish I didn't read that, or see the website has them for a lot cheaper than I spent on these... Plus, those look like they can be crimped by hand...

*Sigh* oh well... I guess I like the brass color better.

Sorry, I found that website after you ordered yours or I would have sent you the link. *hug*

If it's any consolation, they're the complete wrong color and I have no idea if they'll take spray paint...?

It's ok, I suppose I should have expected it, being I went through Evilbay, but that's ok I guess. It may not have bothered me as much if I didn't spend 6 times as much for only a third of what that bag contains.

But, not to divert the thread. Your build is comin out pretty good there Jaina.

And here's me during the winter back when I had black hair and pale skin, if that helps with any visualization about the contacts issue.

Note that I'm not wearing any make-up in said picture and obviously will be wearing some when costumed up. This is just visual guidelines and whatnot.

For a better idea of what you might look like with green contacts I did a quick Photoshop job for you. Of course I couldn't just leave well enough alone and just change your eye color so I did a little extra cleaning and enhancements for more of a head shot look.

I look delightfully evil and possessed, which is probably a good thing for Loki. Thanks so much for doing that for me, appreciate it. Contacts clearly do make a huge difference and I'm convinced that I need them now. Have looked into affordable but reputable place to get the prescription for them so happy there.

Dun forget ironman. N yes we have a hulk. Cant wait to see ur build get started im exicted for you any word on the scepter or helmet yet
Of course I won't... you still have to offer me a drink and threaten me with a Hulk in person. ;)
Yup, made a down deposit on the scepter and should have the beastie in my filthy paws in August. As for the helmet, I'm waiting to see how finances go after I move in August to see whether it's doable or not just yet. I really want one as I think it shall complete the look, but as I can do w/o if I must I'm going to focus on the outfit itself for now.
Alas, the scepter's a must. I'm going to enjoy making people kneel before me! :p

Thanks for the site suggestion, I'm looking through their green stuff now and they do have quite a selection. Am going to have to check their shipping to the USA but I'm glad someone who doesn't normally wear contacts has a positive experience. :)

Thanks Satxer, it's great to hear from a fellow Loki! I'll actually begin psychically assembling this monster in August once my moving-to-a-new-place dilemma is sorted out so photos and me pulling out my hair shall be discussed in more detail. :p

Thanks so much for sharing the zipper sale, appreciate it! :) I was thinking of just sewing in zipper trim but now that you put this up and the price is so good I'm debating switching over. So you just clamp them on w/pliers I suppose?

Yep! Some zip stops require special pliers but these go on with regular household or jewelry pliers I believe.

I think Loki's outfit has a mixture of silver-finish and gold-finish stops, anyway, so you'd only have to paint about half of them. Wow, that's a really good deal ... I already bought mine, or else I'd consider it.

It is a good deal and actually even cheaper than the zipper trim, may as well go for it as it'll be worth it!

Epic, less supplies I have to buy. Thanks and I guess I will get the zipper tops. It's Item #11 here right? Just double checking I have it right.

Yep. The guy (Dan) got back to me within a couple hours of my email. You'll have to call or email with card info and at first I was a little eeeehhhhh about it but I've been watching my bank account and one charge for $37 showed up which sounds about right for item and shipping.

So, seems legit.

Sweet, will grab them then thanks so much! :)

Jaina! Your planning continues most excellently! I probably should have planned for mine better, kept going back to the store to buy more supplies every day in between crafting! So i saw you mention you are thinking about getting a helm - I will be putting up pics of the helm i made today or tomorrow. its not 100% where i want it, but it was done enough that I debuted the outfit at ConnectiCon this past weekend :] Anyways, the molds of the helm, bracers, and necklace are all done and I will be doing more castings and selling sometime soon. Take a look and let me know what you think :] Good luck with everything and can't wait to see your progression in August!

Thank you for the progression ideas--I'm leaning towards doing something similar for Halloween with some of my friends. I've decided that I wanted to put my own spin on the outfit as well! Thank you for the inspiration.

What are you planning for the helmet?

Can't wait to see how this turns out! I've been wanting to do a Rule 63 Thor for a while now. I'd love to get a friend to do Loki with me.

UPDATE!!!
Have gone ahead and acquired all the fabric and materials needed, and have dyed my hair black again so no need for a wig. Am going to see if I can afford to have a helmet for this as well but I won't know till later on as this baby is going to breaking the bank (will be posting up stuff for sale in the Junkyard at the end of this month to help offset costs).

Now... patterns. Those of you who have gone w/regular (non rule 63) Loki and rule 63 Loki alike... what did you base your trench coat off? I know Loki is a special case and obviously heavy modifications will have to be required but any tips would be mucho appreciated.

Oh...my mind is going all sorts of places with this...
LOL so was mine!!! I blame it on Loki being horny... :p

Thank you so much, I'm sending you a message about the bracers and necklace. Because yours = fabulous. Check your inbox! ;)

Nope! I'm making a Lady Loki version with my daughter and we're using gold zippers!
Yup, gold zippers work! I'm using zipper stops at the end found here but zippers work too. Good luck with your build!

Please, go for it... I really hope to run into some Rule 63 Thors at NYCC so I can take fun photos!

Thank you! If you need any help w/yours, pls let me know and I'll do what I can in terms of pointers and whatnot.
I'm planning on getting a helmet from Sith Camaro, you can see them here. That being said, I'm focusing on getting the scepter before the helmet so if push comes to shove with $...

I ended up starting from scratch for mine but I'd considered using Simplicity 5386 (the matrix coat pattern).
