Rubies helmets..

Can anyone tell me what the quality's like on Rubies helmets? I'm specifically looking at the Biker Scout (which I believe can distort easily) and Boba Fett.
Also can you tell me whether the size is good and paint etc.

Cheers

Rubies are cheap as you know, so quality isn't great...

A fair few fellow 501st guys use the Rubies/Don Post Scout lid, but needs heavy modification to make it look anywhere good. And yes, they do warp easily. Size is faily good.

Fett... hmmm... IMHO, stay away..

One of the old Don Post deluxe lids was excellent, but as far as I know, Rubies hasn't come anywhere close.. Way too small as well.

Well there tends to be lots of Rubies bashing - but I think the Biker is good, especially for the price. And can be modified pretty easy to be more stable.
The Fett is pretty much a lost cause, but then again it isn't possible to get a decent painted Fan-made one for even 3 or 4 times the Rubies price, so you are kind of stuck. They are also small, but you can make some improvements such as the Visor.
All in all I think the Biker is a great deal, and the Fett is only really good for a younger fan not to concerned with "screen accurate" looks - but that all said it is your only option without spending big bucks so you can always make it work if you have too.:)

Thanks guys. I think I might buy myself a Scout lid for xmas and maybe the Ep II Clone (I've heard it's quite small, but it looks great IMO).

The clone helmet is terrible - waaay too small. The Kellogs clone helmet is much better to mod.

I actually don't care for the Kellogs helmet myself. Too squat and round looking - reminds me of a real bucket.
There has never been a good priced, well done replica of this helmet available that I have seen. We just need some talented member of this board to sculpt one, make up some kits and sell them (cough..cough..Sgt Fang.) Seems like forcing to chose between the options of Rubies and Kellogs there is a market for a better replica.:)

RUBIES Butcher's every property they get.

Got that right and yeah the Rubies Scout is about the best of what they have to offer and even that is sub par compared to the Don Post ones and i honestly think the only reason costumers use it is because there really isn't any alternative thats easy to get hold of for anywhere near as inexpensive.

The TIE helmets are pretty well done. Not as good as lids that cost three times as much, but for the price point, the Rubies TIE is really really good.

Have to disagree with that the Rubies TIE helmets are way under size and usually severely warped especialy the ears not to mention the vinyl is dull so needs repainting anyway.
I think SgtFangs TIE helmet is the best option if you're on a budget really good value for money.

I like the Rubies TIE as well, I have a couple and neither are deformed at all. The others are just a little too big looking for me. It is already a big helmet, but I like the Rubies size.
It does need a good paint job to be shiny.:)
