just wanted to post a few pics of my SWAT sandtrooper for the MEPD of the 501st

The goal was to capture the look of the trooper Ben convinced to send them on their way.

Rapsodyred99, contact one of th' Admins Abby Darkstar or Zendragon they should be able to move it for ya.

That is awesome!!!

I love the ability to take something as generic as a stormtrooper and make it unique to just one scene!!

From one TK to another...Bravo!!

Outstanding attention to detail! Tasteful weathering as well. (One thing that bugs me about the Special Edition Sandtroopers is that they all look like they've been smeared with Dewback dung. Where did all the mud come from?)

Anyway, really, really nice work!

Thanks for the comments, I know the poor SE sandies just don't fit, but then again they had working dew backs so maybe they spray their dung like a hippo? :p

There are three levels of costumes for a sandtrooper in the 501st

Basic level is allowed to be more idealized with armor construction and accessories not needing to be done exactly by the movie.

Police officer status is a little more detailed with more screen accuracy, the goal is to look like you could have been one of the sandies just off screen.

SWAT level is a whole new level of accuracy. Armor construction, accessories like weapons pouches and the pack, and most importantly the weathering has to exactly match a screen sandtrooper. We spend hours pouring over screenshots and behind the scenes photos to as closely as possible mimic a specific sandtrooper. The weathering is the hardest part to get right as it can't be too heavy or too light. As you can see from the natural light pics it looks completely different from the inside shots.

SWAT takes a special dedication (craziness? :p ) to achieve, that's why there are only 22 out of the 612 501st legion sandtroopers worldwide that have achieved it. I was number 19 and it took a ton of work to get there but was very rewarding.

Believe it or not he started life as a shiney white PVC esb stormy!

So here is the suit as it stood as an ESB TK:

and here it is with the TK parts removed and TD parts added prior to weathering:

A view you dont see: a staged on the Star Destroyer, Prior to being Deployed and getting dirty Sandtrooper.

Taking it from an ESB lid to a Move along lid took me longer than anything else.

And just a side shot mimicking a pose from the film. Imagine a land speeder in front thre...

These are not the droids we are looking for...
