The pattern for the ROTJ version is actually simpler than the EP III version. How wide is your velvet?

46"
I'd rather pay a fee to get one made than to just buy and have this bolt sitting getting dusty. Many people have claimed to have the perfect pattern and know the real colors :rolleyes I'm ready for action, not more campaign promises B) LMK how that would work.

The only probelm is that for the "purists", the Original Trilogy version was apparantly made form 60" wide fabric, with the length of the fabric running sideways, which leaves fewer seams. To make a robe with 45" fabric requires cutting the pieces along the lengthwise grain of the fabric, so the best we could do is cut it in a similar fashion to the way the Episode III version is cut, with seam lines at the "sleeve" sections, adding fullness at the front for the OT look. I'm afraid that's your only option with fabric that wide.

Bummer. I'm defintely a purist, having spent so much time studying and dwelling on the Royal Guards to the point of creating armor molds and editing wikipedia :) How are your cape-making abilities, ala Crimson Empire?

Capes are no problem. Keep in mind, with 45" fabric, you're still limited to either a very narrow cape, or one with multiple sections resulting in seams, like Darth Vader's cape.

But will it look cool? B) Not to mention dramatic; seams won't bother me there.

READY TO CAST.
We already have the possibility and mold to make these if interested.
I will check up with production cost.

Whould it be interesting if we made it complete with the helmet and all the softparts.
I can have the softparts made if we are enought people.
I will only make a run for RPF / 501st members if interesting.
You guys seen my Vader softparts. If not there is a post in the main forum.

Sorry..... I read throught the pages and discoverd someone is offering these. I dont want to intrude.

I really wonder what type of velvet they used for the ROTS version of the Cloak. It's pretty thick and heavy if I remember correctly.

From the Dressing a galaxy book info, I'm certain is was a silk velvet. That also explains the way it's seamed (for a 45" width), since a silk fiber is only just so long. Plus, I can't picture buying cotton for the robes given what they're making everything else out of. Talk about money being spent on wardrobe...

Hmmm....but Silk Velvet are know to be light. I had "examine" Arwen Requiem Gown (Pure Silk?) and even with that amout of velvet, you can still feel the lightness of the fabric.

But with the ROTS IRG, it was pretty heavy. And the position/gaps of the nape/threads when seen in real closeup reminded me more of those Polyester or Rayon etc type of "thick" velvet kinda look.

Unless the Silk is only for the velvet backing; the nape/threads are another type of materials. Many velvet that are called "Silk Velvet" actually turned out to be a mix and the silk is only for the backing while the nape/threads are probably Rayon or even Polyester.

I too am looking for a big Royal Guard helmet. I am new to these boards but have been costuming in the star wars realm for a while. I have seen DP helmets on ebay for 60 bucks or so but I'm sure they won't fit. I have looked on the internet and have seen a few for around 400 with shipping to the US. I am looking for something that definately fits and is closer to 60 then 400.

My CO is working on a big royal guard helmet. When I say big, I mean at least 30% larger than the DP. I'm not sure how many he feels like selling, though he's well aware of the need for a bigger royal guard bucket on the market.
