ROTS resin Vader

Just started this 1/1 Vader helmet. The face and neck were printed in 2 separate pieces. Couldn’t find the dynodes I wanted so I just made my own to fill the big square holes. All this is fresh off the build plate with no cleanup as of yet. I underestimated how big this thing is. It’s huge! More to come…

Thanks. The file I got from CG trader. It’s a Peopoly Phenom L printer. Here’s some of the parts cleaned up. The two piece dynode will make painting clean and simple.

First round of sanding done. The back panel is held in by magnets. Size comparison with Hasbro “Black”. Series. Helmet is the last piece (2 halves) and is printing now. 55 hours per half!

Further progress on Vader. I got a full 1/2 of his helmet to print in one piece. A bottle of resin for scale. Biggest thing I’ve printed to date. Second half is printing now.

Does something this thin, with as curvy as it is, warp a bit while curing? I can't believe you're getting prints that large in one piece!

I’ll post a picture when it’s done. It’s flat! Of course this model I printed solid and the walls are .25 thick! The Phenom L is an amazing printer. I sectioned out (14 parts) and printed a 1/1 Ra from Stargate. It’s 4 feet tall. His collar isn’t shown but it’s printed too.

Both halves of the helmet printed, straight from the printer with no sanding and this is the gap between them. Maybe 1/16” at best.

This is great and all but an MR or MR recast would have been less than that resin printer, so how come you did it this way?

Update. Resin tusks? Nope. Machined 7000 series aluminum tusks? Yep! More to follow.
