rotj lukes lightsaber orignal? Help & info appreciated

I've got a guy over at the BBC that posted this, but we haven't had much luck on IDing it, so I told him I'd repost it here (he's not an RPF member)

this was brought from a film auction in cailfonia in the mid 80s,my friend recently swapped a load of james bond dvds for it!! all he knew that it was a lightsaber but thats about it.its made from some sort of cast ailiminum and is unpainted,my friend has put 2 and 2 togther and belives its orignal,i would tend to think that if it was a prop from the orignal film that it was a reject as there an air bubble on the corner of the on/off switch

can anyone give us any info on this,eg what the orignal was made of,could it be cast from the orignal mould?and whats it worth?
tonight he should have the orignal auction receipt,hopefully this will shed some light on this



still waiting on the orignal auction receipt,this should give the date ect.
the saber is one peice,looks like it was cast out of some sort of light weight metal.
no marking/stamps.i had a look on the net at obi wans and luke's saber hilt.100% sure its luke's form rotj.
the only thing that was differant was the top round plate where the blade comes out,this has two half moons
cut out if it.

Im pretty sure thats a fan made saber. Its not like anything Ive seen before. Kinda like a combo mix of the Obi ANH Saber and Lukes ROTJ.

I agree. It looks fan made.
Maybe an old Marco saber?

Looks like the "half moons" are just places where the casting broke.

Don't think that booster gear was cast from an Obi-Wan ANH saber. I don't think this was cast from the shard stunt either, as the booster wouldn't be there at all AFAIK. Plus the grips look too even.

Looks pretty fan made to me, but maybe this is some rare thing. The pommel cubes and the emitter dimensions look pretty good from that angle though.

Would help if the pic were smaller and if there were pics from other angles.


EDIT: Oh I didn't see that first pic. Yeah, I'm definitely thinkin' fan made now. Pretty neat, though.

Anyone think that with the portion of emitter missing it could be cast from one of the R2 sail barge launch sabers?Didn't one of those have a bit missing on the emitter?

Well, I dunno. The more I look at it I'm interested. Is it really cast aluminum? It kinda looks that way from the wear on the pommel cubes. That's interesting.

I would like to see more angles still. The face of the emitter would be nice to see. As would the whole side opposite the clamp/"circuit card".
